My guess, he’s got people typing out documents that say
EPSTEIN FILES
They’ll release it in a couple days.
How do you get a visa without a passport?
Aren’t there already laws against making child porn?
^ That’s antisemitic!
Yeah, the boy who cried “WOLF!” all the time eventually got eaten by wolves.
I wanna know what he was doing with that bottle of hot sauce in the privacy of his bedroom. Possibly it subsequently failed a sniff test and that was what led to the argument.
I’m wondering if advertisers are starting to notice - that’s the only thing that’ll make these fuckers try to clean house. It’s maybe two years since I left reddit and even then it was absolutely infested with bots. They didn’t give a fuck, only cared about the IPO. But advertisers are going to care when they get lots of engagement but no customers because all the engagement is bots.
I think that was kinda the idea - war production meant steel was in great demand, and this seemed like a really cheap way to make ships. I wouldn’t want to try sailing one round the Caribbean, but they might have been okay in the north sea, for example. They didn’t work out though, can’t recall why but it’s not impossible that melting may have been a factor!
IIRC this type of thing isn’t new - there was research into the possibility of making ships out of ice mixed with sawdust in WWII.
Yeah Lemmy has porn but if you want anything at all niche Reddit was better. My tastes are pretty vanilla so it’s not been a problem.
I don’t think it’s particularly hardcore myself, I’ve just been moving away from platforms as they’ve been enshittifying. I was on reddit over ten years but left over the API thing and haven’t been back. I stopped using Facebook a few years ago and haven’t missed it at all. I stopped using twitter when musk bought it, tried using mastodon for a bit but it was kinda barren so I’m on bluesky now. I still check in on mastodon occasionally. I’ll move on from these platforms too if they turn to shit. It’s easy to get caught in a kinda sunk cost thing with platforms, but really it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been there, how many Facebook friends you have, how much karma, whatever - if it turns to shit it’s time to move on, and best go early to avoid the rush!
I’ve done a lot of seasonal field scale farm work, mostly in Europe - it can be extremely hard work. Couldn’t do it now, you have to be pretty fit.
If only there was a vegan alternative.
How much volume is 30k of bull spunk? I’m thinking it must be at least a bucket full.
All true. I just don’t know what we can do about them though. Some can be reached, many are too far gone.
It’s abuser tactics - “You’re lucky you’ve got me, no-one else would have you, now take more shit.” It’s cheaper than making employees feel happy and valued. And yeah, some very successful companies absolutely see their employees as disposable. I’m hoping this’ll become a problem for them when they’ve burned through the available pool of vulnerable staff, but we don’t seem to be there yet.
It’s not a stupid question. From what I hear, people try stuff like this all the time, stuff like putting a bit of code on your employer’s system that’ll erase important files if you get shit canned and no longer appear on the payroll. It’s why a lot of companies no longer give notice when ppl are fired, just have security walk them out. And unfortunately this stuff is often traceable, which means they’re risking quite serious prosecution.
I don’t like much of what I see, I think it’s becoming clear that some new tech is going to have wide ranging and harmful effects. I’m not sure that doing luddite stuff will help but I can understand why people would think that way.
I feel bad for all the engineers etc who are working really hard on these projects, only to see their efforts tarnished by the flyblown image of the wanker who owns the company.
Wait til you hit fifty, it’s really disconcerting.
