Technology@lemmy.world•Grand Jury Declines to Indict Man Caught on Camera Destroying Flock PoleEnglish
2·6 days agoBut they were. And now the resolution needs to not only include removing the cameras but also the freedoms from those who have been blatantly violating the rights of millions of Americans. From the oligarchs, the senators involved, the council members who got paid off, to every single employee in between that chose to go to work for these companies knowing full well their objective.

Technology@lemmy.world•Reddit stock tumbles the most on record as lack of new AI deals, US daily users metric disappointsEnglish
4·28 days agoWhich is literally why lemmy is the only possible replacement. It’s the only path for users to choose not an evil corporation. Hypothetically reddit could operate an instance, and we could all give them the finger and block/defederate from them. We have to foster the growth of niche hobby, community, and activity boards though. It can’t all be left leaning politics and meme shit posting. We need to encourage those who share expertise to come contribute. That lemmy is the defacto aggregate forum. It is the only form factor corporate ownership can’t swallow up.

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Tech bros having their production environments nuked by AI is never gonna get old
171·1 month agoThis is nothing new it’s just faster. The very same lack of guardrails would allow a new, inexperienced employee, or a disgruntled employee, do the very same damage. AI just speed runs everything. If your AI can nuke prod accidentally, you failed to have the appropriate guardrails in place plain and simple. It is the same failure as before. Every time this happens, it is someone operating wildly out of their depth and why product people can’t just vibe. Now more than ever, experienced engineers are essential.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Switched from reddit to lemmy because they banned my accountEnglish
9·2 months ago11y account, 108k karma. Repetitively banned by their ai moderation. The latest, like many, overturned by a human, the content restored, and it immediately received a community award. But their ban automation fanned out and banned all my accounts. Because I was banned. Which was overturned. I’m banned for being banned by an ai, despite that ai being overruled. They will not respond to my appeal.
So anyways now I’m getting oriented on lemmy and will contribute here. Reddit can suck it. Their only value was human contribution from the community and they’re working hard to snuff that out.
Edit: s/reward/award

17·2 months agoHe was a terrible person and it is fitting to celebrate that he is no longer alive to impose his views through policy. Not celebrating his death, just the act of him no longer living. Him dying, sad for his family. Him not being alive, good for the nation. It’s a bad rule, do better.

161·2 months agoProducing software is not free. Serious projects need to be able to commercialize, it can’t always be for passion and vibes. But it can be done tastefully, there is a difference between shilling slop and monetizing a serious project.

My htc hero had a track ball. Peak android right there. Also literally the first android in the US if I recall correctly.
