I’m in this statistic already and found your last bit comforting knowing that it at least will end.
For real though a lot of us are also fed up and starting our own boutique i.t things these days.

I read tech article the other day where the engineer had made several LLM calls and over engineered controlling a smart home light. Then wrote a massive corporate ridden psychoses article about it like he was delivering the word of God.
I can’t remember what company had posted it. One of the search vendors I think but it was not cool. It’s like everyone got laid off and the only people left is some execs nephew that’s “good at computers”.

What in the Kevin rose and Alex Albrecht.

I’m waiting to see if a bill goes through in my country before pushing my friends into a self hosted messenger but it’ll probably be something xmpp based.

It depends on the use case. I use teamgroup high capacity SSD drives for short load things on my homelab but they are super slow for any kind of extended writing due to a number of factors such as cache writes. I had to warranty two of 5 that died within a few weeks but it has been fine once the duds were replaced and they were easy about honoring the warranty.
Again, fine for a homelab but I wouldn’t use them in my gaming rig where speed matters. For things like readimg of stored video and Linux isos, they work pretty good.

Respect that the artist kept the tiny hands and unattractive silhouette at least.

The tv’s with really nice screen tech that is dumb usually costs more I find. Every time I go tv shopping I just end up getting angry about it and talk myself out of it again. I like some of the Hisense stuff but Samsung panels are really the best and the price reflects that.

I can’t leave the house without a shower even if it’s just a quick 5 minute trip to the gas station. The only exception I’m willing to make for this is if someone else is in some sort of harms way from nature or whatever.
Wake up late to the thing? I just won’t be doing the thing I guess or everyone will have to wait. That said, I’m good about not being in that situation and plan myself well for the sake of others as I recognize it’s a weird thing about me, not them.
This man taught us that heaters are indeed about as efficient as you can get in turning energy into heat through a little thing called resistance.

https://internet.nl/ that tests a bunch of security related things and gives your server a score. Great for checking a few more boxes.

Homelab is so 2025. We’re all building EMF pulsing devices in 2026 in preparation of the redacted.

Take the camper bribe Clarence and then never leave the woods again.

This is why I stick with Debian. Adults make decisions over there.

Still needs infinite scroll.
Too real but I spent the first 15 making low wages and the last 10 making about the same as you.
Got kicked out the door with others due to cost (first time in 25 years) and get interviews but it has been a difficult time finding another place.
I’m working on my own thing with a few people that also have some runway and I really hope it goes well because the job market sucks and I’m sick of being on this wheel. It won’t be because we aren’t trying. That’s for sure. We don’t even care about doing well. We just looked at, what can we get away with and cover expenses without pissing off our wives too much. That’s it. That’s the whole goal. Not a single turtleneck among us. I don’t even care if one of them goes crazy, screws me and takes the lion’s share so long as I don’t have to go back on the wheel.
Even if this half worked and I took a grocery store or security guard gig pt to make up the difference, that would still be preferable.
But I have big fear about finding myself in a call center again and that was a lifetime ago. I’d rather starve to death.
