I’ve suffered through playing Italian BrainRot games with my kids. That is a level of commitment I never knew I had in me.

Technology@lemmy.world•LG joins Sony and TCL in abandoning 8K TV marketEnglish
47·13 days agoI’ve never seen an 8k TV but ignorance is bliss as I’m still rocking 1080 and happy. I do see the difference at 4k when at friends houses but 1080 still looks good in my living room.
The issue for me is that, let’s say that one day a magical device does allow time travel, it would also have to do teleportation relative to some point since everything is in motion. What would all of time and space use for a relative location? Can’t be the earth or sun since those are moving. Even our galactic cluster is moving. So if you went back in time a year, the earth wouldn’t be at the same point in space even though it’s done a full revolution. I’m no space scientist but I don’t imagine we have a solution.

I noticed that even though I don’t take a ton of photos, I never seemed to look at the ones I took. Ended up just using my whole camera photo album as the standby screen on my TV so it just shows random photos and I finally got some use out of them. It’s been oddly fun to see random photos taken like 15 years ago pop up that I completely forgot about.

memes@lemmy.world•Merry Christmas to all the parents who are currently cleaning up mountains of wrapping paper
9·2 months agoWest coast US…it’s only just beginning.
I miced up a drummer for home recording using cheap Fender conference mics that came with the fender PA. It’s all she had. It technically worked but I ended up having to overlay the kick and snare with samples in the DAW to make it sound decent. I’m the sound and recording guy for a few local bands as I’m their only free option (I’m in them). One of these days I swear we are going to have something worth “real” recording and use a studio. Until then, I improve slightly every time I work through these things.

I’m not particularly good at micing up cabinets but with the 57, my guitar tone sounds good no matter how bad my placement seems to be (slightly off center damn near touching grill). I tried so many ways to get bass decent on it but the 52 just worked without effort. I’m sure an expert could probably get the 52 to sound decent/good but for the rest of us, just use a 52. Don’t have a 58 so can’t comment on that but I doubt any Shure mics are bad.
All of those yes but not the kick and bass mic. Had to buy a beta 52 for those.

I don’t know what this is but it looks good. Can you describe the flavor? I’d like to try it if it’s anything like Vindaloo or Marsala.
