  • Oh, I’m well aware.

The destruction of that building facade was even worse than that. When it became clear that he wouldn’t preserve the facade, there were many that were willing to pay to remove iconic architectural/ 1sculptural elements and send them to museums, but he ordered his construction crew to simply destroy them.

As a person whose job partially consists of brand marketing, I see that as a great marketing opportunity for his brand image that he absolutely blew. He could have played along, let those architectural elements be removed to museums on someone else’s dime, as he stood out front, bloviating to the media that he is so proud to be the leader in preserving the iconic architectural history of the great city that he loves so much, and improving his standing with the city and its citizens. Instead, it was just “Fuck it, just destroy it all.”

And yeah, I’m well aware of his past, like his demand that the “Central Park Five” be executed, and when they were fully exonerated of the crime, he STILL insisted they be executed. It was then that I knew this psychopath could never be allowed to hold public office.

Now he’s sending innocent people to a torture gulag in a 3rd world country without Due Process, and people are surprised that he won’t lift a finger to correct their “administrative mistakes.” History rhymes again.

  • Paywalled, but here is the piece:

Imagine my surprise when in the spring of 1939 a letter arrived at my house inviting me to dinner at the Old Chancellery with the world’s most reviled man, Adolf Hitler. I had been a vocal critic of his on the radio from the beginning, pretty much predicting everything he was going to do on the road to dictatorship. No one I knew encouraged me to go. “He’s Hitler. He’s a monster.” But eventually I concluded that hate gets us nowhere. I knew I couldn’t change his views, but we need to talk to the other side — even if it has invaded and annexed other countries and committed unspeakable crimes against humanity.

Two weeks later, I found myself on the front steps of the Old Chancellery and was led into an opulent living room, where a few of the Führer’s most vocal supporters had gathered: Himmler, Göring, Leni Riefenstahl and the Duke of Windsor, formerly King Edward VIII. We talked about some of the beautiful art on the walls that had been taken from the homes of Jews. But our conversation ended abruptly when we heard loud footsteps coming down the hallway. Everyone stiffened as Hitler entered the room.

He was wearing a tan suit with a swastika armband and gave me an enthusiastic greeting that caught me off guard. Frankly, it was a warmer greeting than I normally get from my parents, and it was accompanied by a slap on my back. I found the whole thing quite disarming. I joked that I was surprised to see him in a tan suit because if he wore that out, it would be perceived as un-Führer-like. That amused him to no end, and I realized I’d never seen him laugh before. Suddenly he seemed so human. Here I was, prepared to meet Hitler, the one I’d seen and heard — the public Hitler. But this private Hitler was a completely different animal. And oddly enough, this one seemed more authentic, like this was the real Hitler. The whole thing had my head spinning.

He said he was starving and led us into the dining room, where he gestured for me to sit next to him. Göring immediately grabbed a slice of pumpernickel, whereupon Hitler turned to me, gave me an eye roll, then whispered, “Watch. He’ll be done with his entire meal before you’ve taken two bites.” That one really got me. Göring, with his mouth full, asked what was so funny, and Hitler said, “I was just telling him about the time my dog had diarrhea in the Reichstag.” Göring remembered. How could he forget? He loved that story, especially the part where Hitler shot the dog before it got back into the car. Then a beaming Hitler said, “Hey, if I can kill Jews, Gypsies and homosexuals, I can certainly kill a dog!” That perhaps got the biggest laugh of the night — and believe me, there were plenty.

But it wasn’t just a one-way street, with the Führer dominating the conversation. He was quite inquisitive and asked me a lot of questions about myself. I told him I had just gone through a brutal breakup with my girlfriend because every time I went someplace without her, she was always insistent that I tell her everything I talked about. I can’t stand having to remember every detail of every conversation. Hitler said he could relate — he hated that, too. “What am I, a secretary?” He advised me it was best not to have any more contact with her or else I’d be right back where I started and eventually I’d have to go through the whole thing all over again. I said it must be easy for a dictator to go through a breakup. He said, “You’d be surprised. There are still feelings.” Hmm … there are still feelings. That really resonated with me. We’re not that different, after all. I thought that if only the world could see this side of him, people might have a completely different opinion.

Two hours later, the dinner was over, and the Führer escorted me to the door. “I am so glad to have met you. I hope I’m no longer the monster you thought I was.” “I must say, mein Führer, I’m so thankful I came. Although we disagree on many issues, it doesn’t mean that we have to hate each other.” And with that, I gave him a Nazi salute and walked out into the night.

  • If people hoarded cats, or junk cars, or Hummel figurines, or beanie babies, etc., the way these people hoard money, theyd be diagnosed with mental illness, and get psychiatric help.

But if a zillionaire has the unquenchable compulsion to destroy EVERYTHING to get just a tiny bit more, he’s worshipped as a “job creator.”

Its time to start framing this behavior as a mental illness, which should no longer be indulged or tolerated. It needs to be treated, and just like a cat hoarder’s cats are removed by the authorities, confiscating much of their financial hoard is the first step.

  • I’m almost certain that he has been ordered by his board of directors to get back to work, or be removed as CEO of Tesla.

There is almost certainly a shareholder class-action suit brewing over his reckless and irresponsible behavior over the last several months, which has directly caused severe, and possibly irreparable, damage to the company’s brand image AND it’s sales around the world, as well as tanking the stock price, an unforgiveable sin in the investing world. Now that the bubble has popped, it will never inflate again. As future earnings reports are released, and sales continue to slide, the stock will continue to decline, and the cycle will continue until bankruptcy. And it is all traceable to Skum’s self-indulgent, egotistical behavior.

The only question is will Skum be the only defendant, or will the lawsuit also name the individual members of the board, for not reigning him in, or firing him. They don’t want to be sued alongside him, so they are forcing him to get back to work saving Tesla, thus letting them off the hook for legal liability.

Its doubtful Skum will be able to save Tesla at this point, its almost certainly too late. It is also probably too late to avoid a shareholder lawsuit. Investors have lost millions of dollars, not due to the vagaries of the market, but due to Skum’s outrageous behavior, which, as CEO, he should have realized would damage his company and its investors significantly.

And arguing that he didn’t recognize the danger in advance is no excuse at all for a CEO, who should have been able to predict the response to his self-indulgent ego bender.

Shareholders have lost many millions, and they won’t just let that go with an “Oh well.” He’s likely going to get sued, and the board is just making sure they don’t go down with him.

  • I keep hearing that it’s supposed to be much stronger these days, but my experience is just the opposite.

I was a heavy weed smoker in my young years, smoking standard generic pressbud, and it got me nicely stoned. I even had a couple of years where I was growing my own, so I’m very experienced with fresh homegrown weed, which was beautiful. Tasted great, with a very satisfying intense high. Then I quit smoking for a few decades.

I recently started smoking again in my retirement, and was looking forward to trying this stronger weed I was hearing about. I’ve tried legal weed from various states, and none of it gets me nearly as stoned as the cheap pressbud of my youth.

This is just anecdotal, but that’s been my experience.

  • WTF are you talking about? You don’t know shit about me. I’m not a “DNC lover,” I’m not even a Democrat, I’m a lifelong Unafilliated Independent since 1977. I had a 12 year Reddit account, with over 900K karma, and was permabanned in the February bloodbath because of my activist anti-MAGA/Republican views, although I’ve been highly critical of Democrats, too. The MAGA Nazis have my account posts, and there is no doubt I’m on a list for future trouble, so I’m not just a keyboard warrior, I’ve got skin in the game. I fully expect to be grabbed after they declare Martial Law next summer.

I call’em as I see’em, and I’ve been screaming about the weakness of Democrats for decades. I was hollering for Pelosi to move aside for years, and give younger players a chance. Unfortunately, she was succeeded by Jeffries, who is nearly as weak, ineffective, and uninspiring as Schumer.

I’ve liked Hogg for years, since he emerged as a strong voice in the wake of the Parkland Massacre, and consider him the exact opposite of Jeffries/ Schumer - strong, fearless, and inspiring. I don’t exactly know why he’s spending his time at the DNC and not running for Congress, but i suspect he is intending to grab the reins, and make major policy changes within the entire Democratic party, something that is desperately needed. Perhaps after that, he’ll run for office, he’s still incredibly young.

His strategy to spend $20 million to primary weak, ineffective Dems is an excellent one. The same threat on the Republican side keeps them in line and supporting the evil MAGA agenda, and HitlerPig employs that threat routinely. Clearly, a primary threat is one that resonates strongly with Reps, and it will resonate with Dems, too. It already is, judging by their panicked reaction.

So I’m going to support Hogg, even if he made a respectful nod to Pelosi. I’m not going to try to sabotage the best inside man the Progressives have because of an innocuous phrase he once uttered about an elder statesman.

Bullshit like that sort of silly controversy over nothing, while the Reps remained focused on winning, is why the MAGA Nazis are in power. They kept their eye on the 1st Rule of Politics - Get Elected - while the Dems distracted themselves with all manner of minor bullshit. The Reps recognize that Dems are easily distracted, so they toss all sorts of chum in the water, knowing Dems will take at least some of the bait. That’s why the strongest reputation that Dems have is their ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I’ve seen them do it multiple times, in this century alone.

Hogg is dedicated to injecting strength into the Democratic Party, something NOBODY else is talking about, and he has positioned himself in the party structure to achieve that, or at least attempt to. Now he needs the support of Democratic voters to give power to his demands, and force those changes. I would much rather have fearless young Progressive warriors like AOC, Crockett, Frost, et al, then the old school Tolkien dragons sleeping on their hoard of treasure, and Hogg is the ONLY one forging a path in that direction.
