Except when looking for a new job and now so are 8k other people :/

You can find videos of mudlarks in drained canals on YouTube. I can’t recall the names anymore as I stopped really enjoying the content, but there are videos out there.

Have you seen mudlarks in drained canals? Sucking mud, sometimes up to the knee. If you’re not getting stuck, you struggle to get footing and slip in regular shoes.

Don’t know if it counts but stupid meat circus climb in psychonauts. Never finished that thing.

None in my village. I’m not sure if that’s fortunate or unfortunate. We definitely have bears that come within a couple KM of my house.

I use a couple of subreddits specific to Japan because that’s where the knowledge is for legal, visa, financial, DIY, etc. advice and people refuse to move over. I technically have a bluesky which I haven’t updated in around a year (it’s for business purposes anyway). I also have a linkedin for job purposes. All other social media (FB, insta, twitter, tiktok, whateverTheKidsUseTheseDays) I either never had, deactivated, or fully deleted my account years ago.
Edit: some people are mentioning YouTube. I don’t really consider it social media, but I do use it if that counts. I try to watch more Nebula, though.

I don’t knowingly use AI at all in my person life and projects (I say ‘knowingly’ since many products have it shoved inside now, but I disable all I see). At work, we have AI code reviews which, as a concept, I think is fine and useful.

This is why I don’t use it for coding at all.

I don’t like talking (edit: aloud, to be clear) that much, in person or otherwise, so I like data modes.

I would love to have no-till going, but it’s also not reasonable for me. Actual mulch is uncommon in Japan and cardboard just blows away in my area (even with 15-20cm long U-shaped staples in multiple places per piece and on joints; it be windy here). Do what you can now and don’t worry about not being the best or perfect.

This is my experience as well. These days, fewer than 4 spaces is downright unreadable to my aging eyes.

I was scrolling through the comments before posting about it, heh. I used to sing it at karaoke quite a bit.

Destillat is good in both versions, I think, but I definitely prefer the Das Ich version.

I think it’s differently good but still prefer the original. I think there’s something more compelling in the arrangement and orchestration of the original.

Wages have also mostly not kept up with inflation that went nuts starting around Covid times. Some companies have been doing raises, but a lot haven’t been able to keep up with inflation.
It’s also worth pointing out that self defense in Japanese law only covers getting out of the situation. If someone hits you and you hit them back instead of getting out of the situation, you’ve just gone from a victim to a participant in a fight.
Pork or even chicken also work fine, IMO.

I do not use AI in my personal life at all (unless some program I use jams it in somewhere and I haven’t noticed yet to disable it or discontinue use).
If I have medical concerns, I talk to my doctor. If I search anything before/after, I only do so on actual reputable sites (e.g. mayo clinic, etc.)
When I was a kid, I liked McDonald’s pizza happy meals (I still remember the song from the advertisements). I doubt middle-aged-adult me would like it, but I weirdly want to try it again. I’m sure there’s other stuff from the '80s and '90s, but I can’t immediately think of it.
