Rejecting AI output comments but accepting PRs, seems weird to me. Sometimes I want to say something and then feed it through an LLM to take off any aggression or confrontation.

Tech@programming.dev•Vibe coding may be hazardous to open source
2·11 days agoI hope there’s a lot of discourse about this as this is a conversation I’m really interested in. I think preconceptions get in the way of progress regarding AI/ML, some rightfully so. But it’s ultimately about where we go from here.
Things will improve after the major release with more fine grained controls. Being able to limit community interactions to members will drive up quality engagement and that should drive up retention rates.

Tech@programming.dev•Gmail preparing to drop POP3 mail fetching
41·1 month agoGoogle are an advertisement company. Their business model is data mining. It should be an inconvenience for them to build a profile on you. Running your third party email via them is the opposite of that.

Tech@programming.dev•Gmail preparing to drop POP3 mail fetching
191·1 month agoTo be fair, they’re only talking about being able to fetch other (third party) mail accounts via Gmail. No one in their right mind should be doing this anyway. And only via POP3, IMAP is still supported.
This is the kinda cool stuff I wanna see people play with. But I get you that it’s not practical for real world use.

Summit removed it and then brought it back because PieFed kept shitting the bed. Yay, degraded user experience for everyone!

And what about the people who use AI to help fix their English so that they’re clear in what they’re trying to say because English is their second or third language?
