It’s basically the best virtualization platform. It can do full system emulation across a number of platforms, or hardware assisted virtualization (using KVM). It’s incredibly useful for debug as well as doing real work.

Uh, what? The Ayn Rand garbage philosophy? I’ve never heard that and don’t see how that jibes with a free, crowd sourced encyclopedia…
I like this comic but Beetle Moses needs to actually look at a tortoise, haha.
Their arms and legs don’t pop out of holes in their shells, their shells are more like wraps around their torsos (it’s a strapless dress, not a onesie). Also those scutes (panels of the shell) are fucked.
… Why yes, I’m fun at parties, why do you ask?

I’m with you. She’s especially great at physical comedy. Reminds me a lot of Lucille Ball in I Love Lucy. Not to mention, she’s a complete 90s fashion icon.
Her later work as president of the Screen Actor’s Guild showing solidarity and striking with the writers made me a fan before I ever watched the show.

So, the answer to the question “Can Linux directly host another Unix-like operating system’s binary interface?” at the moment is “partly, experimentally, and impressively.”
As if there was any question on that? You can have Linux “handle” Windows PE binaries by telling it to invoke wine, dealing with a Unix-like scenario is a much lower bar.
The question is who is this useful for? FreeBSD has the Linux compatibility layer because it’s playing catch up to Linux, but the Venn diagram of stuff FreeBSD can do but Linux can’t is tiny, especially if extra special kernel feature stuff is stubbed.
Can anyone name a project that is BSD first, doesn’t rely on BSD kernel features, doesn’t have a native Linux port, and isn’t a distro tool?

AOC had to walk so Mamdani could run. Not only proving DSA candidates were electable, but also that they could actually do the job by being pragmatic (for better or worse).

Sexism might be an easy answer, but let’s not forget that AOC is a rep with a small district, and got around 100k votes. Mamdani represents millions of New Yorkers and curried more than a million votes in his election. Mayor is also a much broader executive position than being one of 438 reps.
Point being, Mamdani’s election/position comes with a lot more mandate than AOC’s, regardless of gender.
This is definitely about the D language, I just haven’t heard anything about in a long time (since Rust ate its lunch) and nothing about it using AI or long time devs leaving.
Was there drama with D? I’m out of the loop…

First Contact was a section 31 cover up!!!
Found Levy’s Lemmy account.
Haha, I have the same feeling for opposite reasons. I grew up in a warmer environment but kept my feet against the cool exterior wall my bed was next to. Now I have to have my feet uncovered and a fan on just to feel comfortable and tucked in sheets feel like I’m trapped.
Being human, eh?

I don’t think it’s misleading, you just have to know that “KDE Linux” is a distro, not the DE. If anything, poor choice on the devs for choosing such an overloaded name.
No, that women will dress provocatively and then shame people that actually look at them.

Eh, it makes sense for Steam share, this data is entirely gaming users. It would be a mistake to try to relate this to overall market share though.

Yeah, I picked that up, but is that so novel it can’t just be a layer on DBus or something? Again, I don’t know shit, it’s just rich IPC seems like a solved problem at this point.

This is cool, love to see the Haiku / BeOS lineage playing nice with Linux. The graphics stack is ripe for experimentation in the KMS/Wayland era, although I don’t have enough knowledge of the architectural differences to know why this makes sense as an alternate stack and not just a compatibility layer built into a Wayland compositor…
Take that! In 20 or 30 years…
