I don’t know about other people, but I can barely smoke a whole joint in one sitting in a day. My wife on the other hand can smoke half a pack of cigarettes a day. I don’t really know many other people that smoke weed though. I actually smoke less now that I ran out of my home grown stuff I grew last year. The commercial stuff in Canada is way too strong for me.

Yeah, although electric heat is 100% efficient it takes a lot of energy to heat water quickly. You’re better off going with gas for hot water on demand. I imagine the unit price is more, but the install price will probably be lower.
400V in residential sounds exciting. That’s one way to cut down on wire cost I guess.
Yup. That’s why people use smaller heating elements and slowly heat up lots of water in an insulated tank instead. Just the difference in the cost of wire you need to run is massive.

I’m an electrician. I haven’t been impressed by most of the tankless systems I’ve hooked up. I would definitely go with gas unless you are willing to run some serious power. Most hot water tanks pull about 3000-4500W or 12.5-18.75A at 240V. A good tankless system is upwards of 18000W or 75A at 240V and some can be around 36000W which works out to 150A. This will easily be the single largest electrical load in your house, unless you also have an electric furnace or something. Depending the size of your electrical service and what else you have in your house you may need to upgrade the electrical service going to your house as well. Most Residential Electrical services are usually 100-200A in my area.

Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft still can't convince folks to upgrade to Windows 11English
51·5 months agoA lot of people are also questioning why they even have a home PC now. Their Win 10 machine is “out of date” and they need to replace it or else, but their cell phone now does much of what their PC did. Instead of installing Linux and learning a whole new OS, they just cut out their PC and just use their phone.

2·6 months agoHere’s the link to the docker I used. There are a few others on github, but this one seemed like it was the most actively updated.

I liked slskd perfectly fine once I got it going, but I couldn’t get my partner to use it as she was used to nicotine and didn’t like the new interface. Once the Docker was set up in Portainer there was very little additional configuration and the rest was inside the nicotine webui app.

4·6 months agoInstead of slskd I recommend using nicotine+. I found slskd worked fine, but was a pain to set up. I found a Nicotine docker that works just like the app inside a web UI. Much less of a learning curb for someone who’s not familiar with servers.

61·10 months agoHaha. I too switched to Linux Mint last week. So far no regrets. I’ve actually enjoyed making everything I need to work. Especially because it seems to work better that on the operating system it was designed for. Strange.

I went myself about ten years back when I worked for a small electronics store. It was literally 70% slop and 20% cell phone cases. There was only one company there that we actually got excited about and looked at bringing in their products. Their products were much better than what we currently carried and our current supplier was a pain in the ass to deal with.
They were imeadiatly bought out and closed by the company we already dealt with before we could even place an order. We only ever received a demo unit.
