Google is making it mandatory to have Play Services for its next-generation reCAPTCHA system on Android.
-
Your phone will need to be running Play Services version 25.41.30 or greater when the system asks you to scan a QR code for verification.
-
This hurdle means that de-Googled phones will fail the verification test by default.

Gonna have to switch to Tor browsing completely then.
How likely is this to affect Linux phones?
If I understand it correctly it would be something that certain websites chose to add.
If a website add this new captcha you wont be able to access the website without a verified android (and I suppose apple too) device.
The device with google play would be use as a way to verify, no matter the device used to browse that website.
And desktops in general?
