For a lot of things, yes, the native app is just an electron wrapper of their fucking webpage, minus any browser specific plugins that might give the end user a semblance of privacy, like ublock origin
Don’t forget, however, that it is in google’s interest that you don’t have control over your phone and setting up proper privacy and security is hard and convoluted by design. They’re an ad business and blocking ads hurts them. Hell, they’re enshittifying chrome to protect their ads! APple likes to pretend they care about user privacy, but they’re control freaks
