Facts have no political bias.
Yes, but also no.
Consider the fact that the typical woman’s brain is smaller than the typical man’s brain.
That is a FACT.
The typical woman’s hand is also smaller than the typical man’s hand. Feet. Arms. Women are typically smaller than men period.
But you and I know full well that of all the body parts to point out are typically smaller, choosing the brain carries additional messaging. It IS political.
I’m not saying zuck is right, he isn’t, he’s a fucking idiot. Worse, he’s actively participating in the destruction of western democracy. Existential threat, kinda deal.
I’m just saying that, unfortunately, facts can be politically biased.
At least from a practical standpoint. You could get real philosophical about this. But for practical purposes they can be.
So context around facts is political. Seems fair.
We should probably go ahead and get to the point where everyone gets some media literacy under their belt. Y’know like we should have done 60 years ago and every year since.
With my tinfoil hat on, I genuinely think a major part of governments meddling with school curriculums is to reduce media literacy.
And I think it’s MAJORLY biting the west in the ass. Instead of just letting domestic politicians abuse the electorate which was the original intention, it’s allowed foreign powers and billionaires to hijack the system.
There’s no tinfoil hat here. The Republicans have been waging a war against education since at least Reagan.
A well educated population is less likely to vote against their best interests.
