AI isn't replacing developers, it's transforming them. Just as NoCode created specialists and cloud turned sysadmins into DevOps engineers, AI elevates engineers from code writers to system architects. The most valuable skill isn't writing code, it's designing coherent systems.
I let this concept dissuade me from becoming a developer and have lost almost 2 years of progress towards that goal… Fucking marketers and executives exclaiming its inevitability, that it was just a matter of months/years…
Being a hype marketer or thought leader executive is more lucrative than being a good developer. Unfortunately - I think, at least - engineering types understand too much about the technology and it’s hard to be such a massive advocate for something you know is 1/4 complete.
