The thing is, if you would have done the 2 hours of work immediately, and within 2 hours, you would just be bringing attention to the fact that you only needed 2 hours and you will get more work assigned to you with no benefit whatsoever.
Now they think it actually takes a week, and you’ve properly set their expectations to 2 hours of work per week.
