      Does it tout itself as open?

      I don’t have much respect for the software, and even less respect for the useful idiots praising it despite never having used it.

      It’s my understanding that it’s proprietary software, but you can use it for free and only have to pay if you make money off of a program developed with it.

        Your understanding is mostly correct. The code is also visible on GitHub and you can compile it yourself, but that’s it. I don’t know if it is officially promoted as open source, but I knew a handful of epic evangelists that said that it was.
