    I don’t think anybody is actually really in trouble getting replaced. “AI” is a useful tool, but if you don’t know how to use it, it becomes useless pretty soon.

    Just yesterday I asked ChatGPT-5 about a simple HTML entity parser and it suggested sed and xmllint. I asked it to use either, but not both and it repeatedly suggested code implementing both redundantly while saying it would only use one of the two. Must be the PhD level expert…

      it’s not being replaced by AI that’s happening, it’s getting laid off because “we will be AI facing” or whatever buzzword the use as an excuse to fire more people.

      Which leads to shittier market, which leads to less opportunities, which leads to lower/stagnating wages
