If you have pictures of known shoplifters why not scan the faces on the way in? Rather than when paying at the register, which is probably not where the shoplifter will be?

Retail security told me that most shoplifters do actually buy stuff as it’s kinda odd to not go to the checkout. They’ll either pocket stuff, or skip an item during scanning and pay without it in the shopping.

This makes sense. Still it would seem more productive to track them from early on.

Can confirm. It’s what I do. I encourage everyone else to too. It’s good for the economy. More money in the workers pockets. Less for the corporations. (I’m half joking but I do steal shit casually)

A good one is to “forget” the 12 pack of soda in that little area in the back of those two bin carts. Great way to get some coke zero without breaking BDS.

Nah. I steal shit all the time from Home Depot. I do it by not scanning shit at the self checkout. I’ll continue to do it too at every place that only has self checkout. I have ADHD. I’m so forgetful. Too bad they can’t hire people to scan shit for me. Then I wouldn’t forget so much.

They might well know and not feel you’re worth the effort to fuck with. Working at Lowe’s opened my eyes to just how tight loss control is.

The computer would alert if a known thief’s license plate rolled into the lot! LOL, they even had nicknames for repeat offenders.

Just commented, Lowe’s catches repeat offenders license plates and pings the manager. They know.

Pretty funny what you can get away with. Put that shit in your cart, walk out, put it in your car/truck, roll, no one will say a word. Drive around the corner, hand it off to an accomplice, take the magnet off your license plate. Unless it was a major heist, they won’t even call the cops.
