In an interview hosted by Politico, the California governor said the US must ‘wake up’ to the the threat posed by the president’s disregard of democratic norms
Donald Trump is gravely serious about running for a third term in violation of the US constitution, California governor Gavin Newsom said on Wednesday, warning Americans to “wake up” to what he described as the president’s flagrant disregard for democratic norms.
“I don’t think Donald Trump wants another election,” Newsom, a Democrat, said during a live interview at a summit hosted by Politico in Sacramento. “This guy doesn’t believe in free, fair elections.”
Newsom, who has gained national attention in recent weeks for his merciless trolling of Trump online and who is widely considered a presidential contender, said he had a stack of two dozen “Trump 2028” hats sent to him by the president’s supporters.
“democratic norms”? That’s a law. Not just any law, it’s a literal amendment of the literal Constitution.
Democrats will watch a Republican shoot a baby on fifth avenue and announce “We’re forming a committee to investigate the possibility of bringing in an independent prosecutor to review the events in question. Please donate $25.”
Great whose enforcing those amendments? The Supreme Court? Who said he can do whatever? Congress who has rolled over and not pushed back in the least?

I’ve yet to see anyone try actual mobilization. Mostly, I read vaguely phrased “Someone should do something (violent[?])” posts, followed by “I don’t want to get in trouble so I can’t say anything further” or “Shut up, you haven’t done anything either”.

What roleplay anime scenario are you picturing anyway? We can still turn things around if we have more social and community involvement than boasting on the internet, there are still countless progressive organizations starting grassroots campaigns to get progressives and socialists replacing the conservative figures in all of our states and counties who are propping up the fascist federal forces.
