Umm… I’m not sure how long you’ve studied US History but non white have always had less rights. Just not always written explicitly so.
Yup. Originally, Irish and Italian immigrants weren’t white. Syrians and Arabs have always been white though, because as they argued in court, if they weren’t white, neither was Jesus. So that case ended quickly.
Is the Syrian/Arab thing true? Where can I learn more?
RIP US Democracy (aged 1965 or so to 1980 something). We hardly knew ye.
