One of the things I particularly dislike about AI-generated images for flavour images is how many people suddenly think that it’s a-ok to use flavour images that are incredibly on-the-nose.
Like, really? You put a picture there of your company logo fighting the metaphor for the vulnerability? That’s not a flavour image, that’s the kind of image you’d put into a news report, if what the image depicts were actually happening.
A flavour image is supposed to be abstract, because you don’t want it to distract from the main content. It’s supposed to set the scene, not be the scene. The last thing you want is people going onto your page and thinking it’s some web comic before they realize there’s actual content there.
