    this sounds about right for me. i’d like to note that the one-child policy was replaced by the two-child policy in 2015 and three-child in 2021, with provincial (about the size of a US state) governments like Sichuan able to abolish it entirely. as seen in 2015, the cultural impact of the one-child policy was already too effective, though
