my immediate family disowned when i came out the closet almost 2 decades ago and it taught me how to enjoy the holidays on my own. we’ve reconciled since then, but i still prefer doing my own thing on the holidays w/o them; in fact i only visit them when i’m too lazy or busy to have my own plans now.
