Not addicted though
Yeah, had to think of this right away:

“Nope. I don’t gamble.”
“I bet I can get you to gamble by the end of the day.”
“You’re on!”
“Oh man… I don’t know how I’ll do it, but you are going down buddy!”
Is this from something or did you just make it up?
Seems like it could be from Dumb & Dumber or a similar farce, but I don’t recall Lloyd Christmas or the other one having a gambling addiction 🤔
It’s from Dumb & Dumber lol
Such a gem of a movie, gotta rewatch it soon 😁❤️
By definition, it’s only an addiction if it affects the lives of yourself and/or others negatively. Which CAN be the case with caffeine, but this comic doesn’t show that.
Other examples of neutral to beneficial dependencies include oxygen, exercise, medication, and the winning smile of Hugh Jackman.
In casual conversation (such as on an internet forum) “addiction” can also mean “physiological dependence to something not ordinarily necessary”.
Caffeine creates very strong physiological dependence.
In addition, due to its ubiquity, the actual harms of caffeine go unrecognised: people who are caffeine dependent are more tired and irritable when they haven’t had any than if they were not dependent, and also tends to cause headaches and stomach problems.
Probably the most harmless addiction there is though.
The rising price of feline excrament beans will eventually bankrupt you though.
Do you think all coffee is shit out by cats?
That idiot must be fancy as FUCK to think all coffee is kopi luwak! 😄
Sorry, honestly thought the /s was implied. Anyways, what I pay for coffee has doubled recently, even for the cheapest figurative shit.
I have a cat that will shit out beans for you
Thats animal cruelty. Peta has been notified. They wanna watch.
I’m on Great Value espresso roast.
Ignore the downvotes, it was a solid joke.
Just Kopi Luwak beans
I’m clearly addicted to tasty food since I am sometimes eagerly waiting to get to eat it lol
That is a real addiction, when not hungry, still craving the taste & texture & sensation & dopamine hit of food. I identified that addiction in my twenties, so with nutritional education & tons of discipline/redirection/substituting the dopamine craving with exercise endorphins, conquered the food addiction.
You can just enjoy stuff without it being an addiction
Maybe you can. But I noticed unnecessary delicious foods had only negative long-term consequences so I learned to cut them out entirely, and find enjoyment in other ways that only have positive side-effects.
Imagine having so much serotonin, it must be like feeling high all the time
ah yes, addiction
Addiction is when you are eagerly waiting to do something you enjoy. I myself am addicted to good food
I choose to interpret this as referring to a coffee date, not the coffee itself
I just had morning coffee.
Now I’m already excited for bed.Same! But not just the coffee. It’s the entire breakfast I’m already excited about! I’ll feast!
I hate to admit it… but I have had this experience before
Nothing inherently wrong with looking forward to pleasurable things, including your morning coffee 🤷
Me too. Don’t hate it.
Esp. when after an eternity of sleeplessness you look at the clock and it’s still hours til daylight.
I had this experience last night about a new chicory cold brew!
Me when I was younger. Not that I’m not happy to have my morning cup, but it hits a little different when I can’t also relax since I’m watching two little kids in the morning.
I miss waking up at noon and just taking the world in while drinking good coffee.
I just picked up a Nespresso machine (late tonight) and this is the first thing I see on my Lemmy feed. I am absolutely ecstatic for tomorrow morning!
I get what you’re saying and the appeal of the category of appliances, but did you have to get the Nestlé one?
They’re one of the most heinous consumer-facing companies in the world and you should really be boycotting them…
And all of those capsule coffeemakers are extremely wasteful, not to mention expensive.
The pods are all aluminum and recyclable, which we do here.
Doesn’t change the fact that it is incredibly wasteful compared to making coffee without pods at all.
Didn’t know Nestle owned them. But thanks for ruining my morning. 😉
Also, this is the only one I’d like. Keurig tastes terrible. I’m normally an Aeropress Café Americano person.
But thanks for ruining my morning
It’s my duty and my pleasure, Ma’am/Sir/other! 🫡
…proceeds not to sleep all night in anticipation.
Hahah this is how I convince myself that sleep is fun
