Conservatism, contrary to its lifestyle marketing image of “preserving tradition and nationality”, is about preserving hierarchies. Those on top not only have a moral duty to trample on those under them, but also to externalize their tastes and distastes to those below them, including those “weird people making weird hand gesturing in the corner of the TV”.
