    One time when I was 10 my teacher rolled in a TV and made us watch some building fall over on the news. I thought it was boring and wanted to go back to learning stuff. But then afterwards all the grown-ups, and I mean like, all the grown-ups got really really angry and weird, like I would say things like that I don’t want to knock over other people’s buildings and they said that meant I was a terrorist.

      But, did they also gather the whole school in the cafeteria to watch, via those same TV carts, the first teacher and mother take off for space — only to have the shuttle explode in real-time? That was an interesting thing to see: hundreds of students looking to their nearest adult and finding emotionally-glitching humans only.

        Oh, man. What a day that was. I was in first grade, still too young to understand that there were people in that thing and that those people died.

        When we watched it blow up like fireworks, I don’t think we realized that wasn’t what it was supposed to do. Our poor teacher had to process it pretty quickly so she could explain it to us.

    My first console controller only had one button, audio cassette storage was my first pirating medium, I remember when doctors used to smoke in the examination room.

    I fought Iraq in 2003 but the first president I could vote for was Bush v Kerry.

    If that doesn’t do it I don’t know what will.
