    Elections are run by the states. State officials decide to hold them and run them. If a Republican-majority state doesn’t, then they don’t get representation in Congress.

      I get that, but he has already talked about trying to cancel them and declaring a state of emergency to justify it multiple times. I’m not disagreeing with you, I’m just saying that relying on our system to correct this mistake hasn’t worked so far and I’m starting to doubt that it’s going to hold up to correct it at all at this point. I wouldn’t put it past him to mobilize whatever willing troops he can to directly stop local elections. I also live in a newly potentially purple state, so I guess I’m pretty dubious of everything surrounding this upcoming midterm regarding normalcy

          They stopped an elected member from being sworn in for quite a while recently. This proved that there’s nothing stopping them from doing this. There’s no reason they can’t do the same on a larger scale.

            Well, here’s the thing. Johnson was not required for her to be sworn in, it could be done in another manner, I want to say a federal judge can do it, but my memory may be hazy.
