Federal investigators in Guam believed the devices held evidence that would help prove individuals handling the island’s Covid unemployment assistance program were part of a plot to steal funds.
There was no imminent risk to life and limb, which is the usual excuse for this kind of overreach. Just your run-of-the-mill fraud investigation.
Third party owned systems are always a risk, get your own comms and pub/priv keys if you want it properly protected.
I am shocked. Shocked, I tell you.
