Every open source maintainer I've talked to in the last six months has the same complaint: the absolute flood of mass-produced, AI-generated, mass-submitted slop requests have turned their repositories into a slush pile. The contributions look like contributions, they have commit messages, they reference issues and they follow templates etc.

    What bullshit.

    The post is about AI flooding everything, and the author’s stance is not that we should limit AI, but that we should limit who can contribute to open source projects.

    It’s like saying that the solution against fascism is to hide in your house and lock the door.

    The author is just describing professional chartership. You don’t have to go back to 13th century guilds, it exists today.
