Luckily, we’ll always have Psy.

Your characters walk into a magic shop, but instead of buying magic items the shopkeeper offers to sell them scrolls of ownership. “There are infinite number of these scrolls,” he explains, “but they all use a decentralized mechanism to determine ownership!”
“Okay, I’ll buy one. Now where’s my +1 sword?” The fighter asks.
“The scrolls say that you own it” the shopkeeper unhelpfully reiterates. “And every other scroll will be updated to agree that you own it.”
I like this because then you can say that a non-worthy person can wield the hammer, if they’re stronger than Odin and can beat the enchantment. Magneto is probably on that level.
The trope probably goes back further than that, but yes.
The SPD was joining with the right to crush workers’ movements long before the election of 1933. If the KPD had joined with them in a coalition it would have represented the KPD abandoning the German workers, and events from then on would have played out largely the same because the Social Democrats enthusiastically went after the Communists along with the Nazis, and it was once the Communists were taken out that the Nazis turned their ire towards the Social Democrats.
The only ways Wiemar Germany turns out different is if a) the SPD joins, rather than represses, the Spartacist Uprising, or b) the KPD manages to take control before being destroyed. It isn’t about being perfect, it’s about preventing the forces of reaction from having a foothold in the movement.
After Adolf Hitler gained power in 1933
WHO GAVE HITLER POWER MOTHER FUCKER?
Nobody in history has been more vindicated than Ernst motherfucking Thälmann. A vote for a Social Democrat is a vote for fascism now just as it was then - and the Democrats aren’t even that!
Trump only looked good in the first debate because of who he was standing next to. It really shouldn’t be surprising that he acted the same way he always has, but a bit slower than four/eight years ago.

New record format just dropped.
It also had the “other OS” feature! It’s strange that the PS3 remains the only big console to have that feature, given how difficult its architecture is to work with. The modern consoles are all much closer to just being prebuilt PCs and none of them have it.
If you think about it from an evolutionary standpoint it’s perfectly logical.
This hasn’t actually been borne out in science. As a general rule, less complex human societies tended to be more willing to cooperate with outsiders. They shared hunting grounds, traded clan members, came together for more complex endeavors, and so on. It isn’t until the advent of agriculture, when people became attached to plots of land and felt the need to defend them from others, that we see these default attitudes start to shift - and racism as we understand it today is a thoroughly modern phenomenon, with no antecedent prior to the 17th century.
Ooh I wanna try this. I used to eat a lot of spam, but then I moved and it wasn’t available anymore.

I’ve seen a bunch of articles about it this past week. With Biden there were a lot of prominent liberal voices calling for him to step down, not to mention the absolute lack of enthusiasm within the rank and file that was showing in polls - with Trump the party’s rank and file are on his side no matter what, so if a prominent conservative calls for him to step down they will be ostracized for it.
When I was a kid they taught penmanship too. I was awful at it but then when I was an adult I had a job where I actually had to use those skills and I was glad to have them - same with everything I learned in Home Ec, most the stuff I learned in wood/metal/auto shop, etc. I think all of those classes are extinct now, based on how people talk about school never teaching them anything useful.
And IIRC it was after they had made a bunch of practical effects, so it’s not like it was saving them money or anything. The execs literally just said “re-do these parts but worse”.
Maybe your body is digested over a thousand years because the Sarlaac doesn’t catch very much prey so it has evolved a hyper-efficient digestive system and sits dormant most of the time, but also once you’re in Luke’s right and you’ll actually die of crushing or acid burning or dehydration.
But they also call it “The Almighty Sarlaac”, which to me implies that this is all folk knowledge. So maybe “be digested over a thousand years” is just what Tatooinians believe will happen to anyone who falls in.
Even if Luke’s right, it’s not like being held down by tentacles while stomach acid slowly burns every part of your body until you finally die of dehydration doesn’t sound pretty painful.
My first thought was “this is a much easier way for a Vampire to eat than stealing from a blood bank.”
I think you could be right, but it depends on the details Nintendo comes out with. I remember people were saying that they thought certain Palworld monsters had been ripped from the Pokemon games and recolored - if Nintendo can demonstrate that, then that’s a slam dunk for them.
But if it’s just creature designs and collecting them, then I just don’t think that “a cute monkey with green fur” is a novel enough concept to be defensible against someone else doing something similar.
