“I thought something obviously stupid because nothing is real unless it affects me. But then it affected me! ¡Que sorpresa!”
But when Republicans talk about freedom, the progressives hear privilege. Aren’t the Left and the Right essentially saying the same thing?
No. The fuck is wrong with you?
They only care when it impacts them personally. Fuck them, selfish pricks.
Oh, it impacted them.
What in the stupid?
Leopards Ate My Face moment
lol what an absolute fuckwit. This is a truly majestic and impressive lack of self-awareness.
I’m sorry for the loss, the road did indeed fail, and I am happy there’s at least one Republican who cares about road safety, but …….
There’s a whole lot of twisted logic trying to make it seem like “both sides the same”. I mean, I wouldn’t argue it since she does see the light after it affected her personally, but wtf
It’s part of the high-control systems and zero sum, want others to lose, rather than want all to do better, raise all boats. In theory people support ideas in polls, but don’t translate that to votes due to their tribalism and don’t really understand the sum of all the healthy and unhealthy ways.
Q: How do controlling systems keep people tribal, zero sum, obedient, and reject platforms that actually match more of their claimed issue goals? …See what you find out…
Edit: Also, come up with scoring and totals for each party, based on what produces healthy people and more happiness, liberty and justice and reduces climate change and helps the refugee crisis.
The data shows Democrats outperform Republicans on happiness, liberty, justice, climate action, refugee support, and economic equality, scoring 83 vs. 37 in an evidence-based analysis. While both parties have enabled surveillance, the GOP/MAGA is the far bigger driver of expanded police tech, spyware, and mass surveillance. The GOP’s “liberty” claim is a corporate-authoritarian scam—their policies restrict abortion, LGBTQ+ rights, voting access, and worker freedoms, while failing on climate and economic equality. Meanwhile, Democrats end cannabis prohibition, protect civil liberties, and push climate action, despite some flaws. The truth? The GOP’s “freedom” is a myth; the Dems’ policies, while imperfect, align far closer with real liberty, justice, and human flourishing.
Do you mind if I ask where this quote is from? I’d be interested to check out those studies and their results.
I love a story with a happy ending. The only good conservative is a dead conservative.
Why is it always the left that has to dumb things down for the right?
Most have ability to learn more, but the systems indoctrinate them not to learn more than they allow and be obedient, they go along to fit in, their team wins when others lose, zero sum thinking. It’s damaging and holds us all back.
Because… they’re dumb?
So that is easy. Religion is based on tradition, and the right is heavy based on religion. Tradition is all about doing a thing without really knowing why. So it skews heavily toward the non-critical thinkers.
I hate people so much. Oh, whats that? The big authority man told you thing was bad? You’re just gonna accept it at face value and let him do whatever he wants? Oh nooo, your fucking beloved family member is dead now, and nothing less would have convinced you. Guess authority man was wrong about this one little thing
Republicans and Democrats are often arguing for the same thing using completely different languages.
That’s where I stopped reading.
And yet…
I thought bike lanes were a DEI project
I’m a Republican, and in nine months of advocating for safer streets, I have yet to meet another one.
The cognitive dissonance is strong with this one
Trying to make these threads meet, I guess the point she’s trying to make is that after the leopards ate her face, she came to understand that the reason Republicans oppose everything that benefits the public is not because they are stupid and/or evil, but because Democrats are failing to communicate in a way that appeals to them.
It wouldn’t be so bad if they didn’t demand respect while doing everything they can to avoid earning it.
womp womp
There’s something about being in a car that makes people fucking nuts.
I was walking home from public transit yesterday and the street I was crossing (admittedly, jaywalking) was in a red light and the car I was crossing in front of was slowing down, coming into a stop behind another stopped car.
The motherfucker still rolled his window down and yelled: “Use the crosswalk!”
All I did was slow him up for one second, going into a stop, behind another car, at a red light.
Probably stupid, but I stopped, turned, and thanked him profusely and politely (though sarcastically too) for thirty seconds and the cowardly little prick didn’t even have the balls to keep his window down.
Always remember that prior to cars, the street was a public place designed for pedestrians. They took that away from us with the “jaywalking” PR campaign.
Absolutely.
Just didn’t get why the guy gave a damn under the circumstances. It didn’t (and doesn’t) make any sense, though I sincerely hope he thought he was going to get shot when I turned around and pissed himself.
I once saw somebody literally red in the face, slamming their hands against the steering wheel, while driving a car, just because they were in bumper to bumper traffic.
Then they revved the car, sped forward like a yard, and slammed on the brakes.
Clearly this person was more inconvenienced than the one who had to slow down for you, but i think it illustrates how frustrated and helpless car drivers can feel when affected by “traffic”, all without realizing that they are themselves the traffic.
When you’re walking or biking, I think you are much less affected by traffic, hence bicycle messengers.
I’ve also read somewhere that public transit bus drivers have some of the worst stress of all jobs, because they have so much pressure on them, but so much of their job is outside of their direct control (traffic, passengers, etc.)
I held someone up for about 10 seconds the other day while getting out of a parking spot. I couldn’t see him for all the other cars until I was about 1m out of the spot. I was reversing carefully so people could react to me coming out, and so I could spot someone if they didn’t. This dude comes speeding up, honking his horn, waving his arms around giving me the finger as if I’d just tried to kill him. His honking surprised me, so I block the brakes in case I’m about to cause an accident. If this dumb fucking cunt, who I wasn’t even close to hitting, and who had plenty time and opportunity to see me hadn’t honked, and instead just slowed slightly down, I would’ve been out of his way in half the time.
People in my area have become a lot less patient in trafic, and have become a lot more agressive about any slight inconvenience.
I’ve always tried to make plenty of room for other drivers, letting them get out of their parking spot with plenty of space, since they can’t see me nearly as well as I can see them, but seems I’m the only one trying to make driving easier for other people.
That is legit scary.
It’s hard for me to understand what it is about those micro-seconds of inconvenience that flips people’s switches so intensely. In my mind, anything that takes a few seconds to rectify isn’t worth freaking out over.
There’s something about being in a car that makes people fucking nuts.
It’s such a well-known phenomenon that Disney was making cartoons about it 76 fucking years ago!
And if you’re wondering why someone would do this, the sequence of crossing signals makes going to that other side of the street faster for my walk home.
The driver might have been angry that you were being unsafe and he didn’t want to see you hurt or be the one to hurt you.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been driving down a unlit road and had to slam on the brakes to avoid hitting someone who was jaywalking and wearing dark clothes. Or seeing kids driving on the road on bikes/e-bikes and being unsafe in traffic.
Some of us just don’t want to see you hurt or be the one to hurt you.
LOL
I’m sure that was it.
Did you actually read what I wrote?
