Zohran Mamdani for the win
This vote is ranked-choice, so there’s no reason to fear putting Cuomo and Adams at the bottom.
Ranked choice gave them Adams in the first place, so it’s not necessarily a guarantee he’ll lose. Hopefully New Yorkers are more familiar with the format now and use it properly this time
I don’t think they were unfamiliar, I think they were misinformed. Adams’ campaign painted a very different picture leading up to the election. I didn’t trust a cop running as a Democrat, but I know plenty of people who thought it meant good reform.
It was apparent to anyone who was paying a lot of attention that he was a narcissist [1] who was willing to lie and break the rules to satisfy his own ambition. There were also subtle indications of this as well.
[1] It apparently no longer exists or is impossible to find now, but prior to the Democratic primary the NY Times did a profile on Adams in his Brooklyn brownstone. It was extravagant, and his comments in the article gave me a strong narcissist vibe. I was already leaning against him, but that pushed me into the “anyone but him” camp. The photo used in the second link is from the photo shoot they did for that article.
NYC is famously bad at electing mayors. I think most people just glance at the headlines on the rack while they’re waiting for their coffee.
Politics is popularity and no ones name has more recognition in that race. He’s gonna either win or come too close for comfort. So long as media keeps focusing on the most inflammatory of us, that’s who will win the low info voters and they’re the vast majority.
Doing some surface-level research, I like Adrienne Adams. The Luigi Mangione fanclub need to get together and back a candidate who isn’t ERIC Adams, Cuomo, or any other egotist prick.
Democratic voters are addicted to electing shitty people, then whining about leftists who notice.
Exactly this
