A trans person who hasn’t fully admitted to others (or perhaps even to themselves) that they’re trans.
It’s really fine just to remain an egg if someone wants. It probably just means that person was non-binary, or gender queer in some other way they were comfortable with.
Fwiw I hadn’t considered Shen’s gender to begin with, but fair.
