I can’t believe how evil you have to be to throw away an entire person you CHOSE TO MARRY for money, instead of divorcing. To treat the person you claimed to love like a literal object to just discard. The arrogance and selfishness to end the life of the MOTHER OF YOUR SIX CHILDREN???

I hope he goes to prison for the rest of his life. No parole. A man who can do this to another person cannot ever be trusted among others again.

Wow, it’s really sad hearing her daughter talk about how her mom was her best friend, and they talked every day, got mysteriously ill and died, and her dad was like, “now make pretend your mom killed herself.” He must not have know his wife or daughter very well.

Lemmy is even worse than Reddit at picking up sarcasm hah. Even my local Facebook group is better at it, which is wild

I’m not sure that’s true. I observed more sarcasm without the need to flag it (/s) compared to reddit and I like it. My post are often sarcastic (probably a coping mechanism, the world has gone crazy) and I wouldn’t be a big fan of flagging them as such: “Hey look, I made a joke. Now laugh and press the upvote!”

I mean it definitely has been my experience that even the most blatant sarcasm and jokes is taken straight here more than even on Reddit. Facebook varies a lot ofc but if granny gets stuff easier than this place, something is off haha

I mean he was caught asking his daughter who is also describing her mother as her best friend to cover for him with a plan that was likely to fail to begin with. That’s not the plan of a mastermind. Actually the opposite.

I agree with you, but OP didn’t make that explicitly clear; being a total stranger and given the number of people who unironically promote everything from long-debunked conspiracy theories to outright lies, I do not see why anyone should assume somebody is joking rather than in earnest.

You’re welcome to infer that OP is being sarcastic, but they haven’t made a comment on the matter either way.

I get you point. I guess I’m a simple man. OP made me laugh. I expect because of sarcasm. If he actually thinks the guy is a mastermind I’d have to laugh even harder. In any case, I enjoyed his contribution to this community. Nevertheless, you point is valid, especially with topics that are more complex.

That’s an easy one to answer. If they divorce, they have to split their possessions. If one of the partner dies, the other gets to inherit all, if no will is made to state otherwise.

Plus it isn’t just about the literal stuff, it is about not letting her have any stuff. Like if he didn’t keep everything, then he would see himself as ‘losing’.

It’s petty selfishness all the way down.

Better murder another human being then?! That’s a foolproof plan

To me just easier to walk away with half than literally murder someone

        I don’t think I’ll ever get it

But that’s not what they are thinking. For them, they think it’s easier to escape justice, otherwise, why commit a crime that lands you decades of not even the rest of your life behind bars? If that was the case, then laws would be obsolete and pointless. Laws exist not only to punish, but also to serve as deterrence. Obviously some people like this dumbass, think they are smarter and can get away!

He was in debt, cheating on his wife and had six kids. Clearly not making a lot of rational decisions. That being said, divorcing the wife would have cost him a ton of money. Especially if his wife didn’t know about the debt and his affair came out in the divorce proceedings.
