Smh smh smh… “Innocent is a concept, and frankly it’s none of your business.” Miss those days.

I always heard this “nothing to hide, nothing to fear” attitude/saying attributed to goebbels and went to go find the source.

I fell down the research well and found it’s actually from an author I’ve read but evidently not enough of his work: Upton Sinclair.

The source is The Profits of Religion and “Sinclair attacks institutionalized religion as a ‘source of income to parasites, and the natural ally of every form of oppression and exploitation.’”

        Seems sadly relevant to today.

Why do you want to scrutinize my personal life’s details if I’m innocent?

Innocent until proven guilty should still be a thing.

It is a thing. At least in the US, it’s even codified. People constantly pretending it’s not a thing and not reprimanding or punishing those who abuse it is turning it into not a thing unfortunately. Shits gotten so bad our head of DoJ and the turdlord president himself declare people “guilty” without punishment, trial, or evidence. It’s shocking to me honestly, this shit would’ve been treason when I was a kid. McCarthyism all over again.

If you don’t let me install cameras in your bathroom how do I know you’re not diddling kids in there, ya filthy pedo criminal?

I’m not even joking. That will be the state of Christian fascist big brother within the next couple of decades.

Wow, criminals are using the last vestige of free and private options for a telephone?! Who would have thunk it? Those dasterly devils, them!

Well I guess there isn’t any better endorsement of your product for privacy than when the cops tell you not to use it.

In the US, criminals use guns to carry out crimes, but the cops aren’t pushing for biometric safeties on weapons. Yet, they want backdoors built into all software to “protect the children,” while firearms cause thousands of deaths for those under 17 each year. Apparently, guns don’t kill children, TikTok does.

graphene is a good os. the pixel series i’m coming to believe sucks ass because google refuses to make a device that just fucking works (fastboot sucks). do your own threat analysis, of course, but consider other options in the privacy os space if you’re looking to reuse old hardware or a more ethical device company

        If your threat model includes:

        • going to protests
        • crossing international boarders
        • interacting with the police

Then GOS is pretty much the only viable option.

Graphene is a privacy focused OS and it only supports Google pixel (as Google pixel allows a relockable bootloader). If you value your privacy it is the best option afaik. I would do a fair bit of research on graphene since unless you’re privacy focused then it might be overkill and you’ll end up flashing a less restrictive OS onto the phone. Ive had some friends who couldn’t stick with it because it was more than what they wanted and caused too much friction
