At the core of the fight in Texas over redrawing the state’s congressional districts is a debate over a time-honored right spelled out in the Constitution: Every two years, “the People” get to pick someone to represent their interests in the U.S.
The solution to all of these shenanigans is so obvious but no one discusses it.
We need a system where a rep’s voting power is exactly proportional to the number of votes they receive. No more, no less. Combined with multi-member districts, this would allow every vote to have a say.
Also, they chose a very weird comparison here by comparing the congressional makeup to presidential vote returns… why not use votes for congress instead???
