Early voter turnout is exceeding expectations in California’s Nov. 4 special election over redrawing the state’s congressional districts, a Democratic-led effort to counter Republican attempts to keep Congress under GOP control.

“We’re seeing some pretty extraordinary numbers of early votes that have already been cast, people sending back in their ballots,” Gov. Gavin Newsom said in a livestream with former President Obama on Wednesday.

More than 3.4 million mail ballots have been returned as of Wednesday, with votes from Democrats outpacing ballots from Republicans and Californians registered as not having a party preference, according to a ballot tracker run by Democratic strategist Paul Mitchell. Mitchell is deeply involved in the Democratic effort, and drafted the proposed congressional districts on the Nov. 4 special election ballot.

… but don’t let any good news or bad news stop you from voting if you haven’t yet!

If you live in California, please get your mail-in-ballot sent well before Election Day, November 4. The changes in USPS policies which are affecting how long mail takes to be delivered are affecting this election. The State Attorney General and I believe the State Registrar urge voters to do this early. They no longer can guarantee that USPS will give it a post mark for Election Day, thus possibly invalidating your ballot.

EDIT: The policies in question make a combination of where you live and what day you send out mail, affect the amount of time it will take for delivery.

I’ve never mailed my ballot in. Always just handed it off at one of the many many drop off locations they have.

If he starts mobilizing the State Guard and gets other blue states to start preparing for a civil war he’s doing a great job.

This is just him meeting the minimum requirement.

Edit: which, tbf, only Pritzker seems to be beating him at.
