I mean, sure. But corporate democrats have been fighting for what amounts to a band-aid on a system that is bleeding out and needs 50 stitches and hospitalization while the conservatives are basically fighting for shooting the patient in the head to end their misery.

Sure, they’ve been fighting for better than the Republicans have, but… that’s not a whole lot better. Medical costs have been one of the top reasons for bankruptcy for literally decades now. Michael Moore’s film “Sicko” came out in 2007, (when it had been a problem fr a long time already) almost 20 years ago, and the ACA has barely moved the needle on medical bankruptcies. I’m not saying the ACA is bad, I’m saying it’s never been close to enough, and we need to stop patting democrats on the back for sucking up to the corporate stooges that fund them to give us half-ass solutions.

Once again, sure, it’s better than the bullet in the brain that the Republicans want to give people like myself, whose medical costs without insurance are over $18k a month. But other countries literally don’t let the pharmaceutical companies gouge their citizens like this to begin with, nor do they allow medical insurance companies to make profit from denying care. Those are purely American issues, and ones that the democrats consistently bend over for corporate interests to leave on the table instead of going as far as they can to make sure people like me aren’t stuck in financial limbo because of a disease I didn’t ask for and certainly didn’t do anything to get, just that random ass cancer in my forties that was unpreventable.

I’m glad for not having a bullet in my brain, but let’s not pretend we can’t ask for better than what the democrats offer.

Voting is key. People could have taken the ACA as the new normal and voted progressive so we could start moving to something more progressive. Instead we voted regressive.

Can never seem to shift society at all left before it gets shoved hard right again

It’s the wealthy…the Republicans, the Democrats…they are just public facing representatives of a democratic system that was long ago usurped. The wealthy gained enough control in both parties to completely control the agenda of each branch of government. Total regulatory capture. You can’t really democracy your way out of that. I’m all for trying, but they’ll always do what they did to Bernie, and if it starts to look like you’ll actually win and enact real change, they’ll do what they did to MLK/JFK/RFK/Fred Hampton.

I just watched a 60 Minutes story last night about new DNA drugs that can cure these exotic diseases with a SINGLE treatment, but that treatment is millions of dollars. Rich people can get it, because they’ll simply pay, but insurance companies are routinely denying them, of course.

These are a new type of drug, and they’ve been under development for a long time, and they are just coming to market, so the demand for these drugs is just beginning, and will definitely grow.

They spoke to the CEO of a small insurance company that was faced with a patient, a baby, who needed a new drug, but it cost so much that it would literally bankrupt the company, especially if they had multiple patients. Without the drug, she’d be dead by age 2. He didn’t want to deny it, but the pharmaceutical company was charging so much he didn’t have a choice but to deny. Instead, he personally led the charge to raise money, lobby the pharma company, etc., and finally convinced Medicaid to pay it.

The little girl mostly recovered, and is now getting straight As. Unfortunately, by the time she got treatment, she had permanently lost the use of her legs, and will be in a wheelchair for the rest of her life. Had they not dicked around, and got her treatment the minute it was diagnosed, she’d be a normal kid, but she was victimized by our healthcare system, who at first decided to let her die for profit.

Oh yeah, they also spoke with the Pharma CEO, and he was as much a psychopath as you’d expect, patiently explaining how expensive it is to create these drugs, so they have to charge accordingly, as much as it pains him, while not mentioning that this drug will also be available to patients in most other countries for free. Only Americans seem to have to bear the cost of developing drugs that benefit the entire world.

We create it, manufacture it, sell it, but we also have to pay for it, and we can’t have it, while the rest of the world benefits.

while the conservatives are basically fighting for shooting the patient in the head to end their misery.

More like after they are actively cutting open the patient to steal and sell their organs while still alive

But yeah we agree on the rest. Most of the political class in general are just trying to hoard as much wealth and power as possible. However there are a handful of Democrats that are actually fighting for complete system overhaul, and that’s more than you can say about Republicans at least.

Again, you confused “all democrats” with “corporate democrats”. Please be careful! There is a difference between a leftist and a corporate lackey, and if you can’t see it, you will keep getting played for the rest of your life.
