“The short-term strategy is, win the House of Representatives,” stated the former president, garnering applause. “Because that’s going to be the circuit breaker that will give us control of one major component of the federal government. With that as a bulwark, we’re now able to block some of the worst impulses that are coming out of this White House.”

The former president laid out a two-pronged strategy for Democrats: to reclaim a House majority next year, and to work on honing the party’s messaging in the coming years.

“Long term, let’s tell a story, a better story about who we are as Americans and what we share,” Obama said, according to excerpts shared with CBS News. “We have to tell the story that makes people who feel outside that process, we’ve got to bring them back in.”

Because they’re totally doing great and thriving under the current regime right? I’m not disagreeing that the Democrats need to go through substantial change, but the simple fact is that they are still the better choice compared to the dumpster fire that’s going on right now.

At least there’s still time to get good candidates on the ballot, and Mamdani has shown that a truly popular progressive has a chance to get past the establishment and win, hopefully more will follow that lead.

My good person, have thou seenest the news this year? Democrats winning is not your great threat. And in a two party state, it’s insane to support their defeat.

We said this last year (and, coincidentally, you said this last year). And the resulting political changes have been the worst most trans and marginalized people have ever seen. Why are you doing this again.
