A top official at the U.S. Department of Education has been keeping a controversial flag linked to Christian nationalism and the Jan. 6 insurrection hung outside his office, according to the agency’s union and a department employee who has observed it.
It’s the latest in a series of instances in which the flag – which depicts a pine tree and the words “An Appeal to Heaven” – has been associated with agencies and figures at the highest levels of the federal government.
Though long tied to the American Revolution, the banner in more recent years “has been adopted primarily by evangelical Christian nationalist groups,” as well as the Proud Boys and certain neo-Nazi groups, according to the Global Project Against Hate and Extremism, an independent nonprofit organization. It was flown in 2021 by rioters at the U.S. Capitol as they tried to prevent Congress from certifying the 2020 presidential election results.
I clicked on the link and was ATTACKED by pop-ups.
One would say absolutely SLAMMED by ads?
Interesting, I didn’t see any ads, but I don’t surf w/o a lot of protection running (as a general rule).
They were not ads. Just so many pop-ups that I closed the window.
I went there to read something and the pop-ups prevented ME from doing that so I went away.
I honestly find so much of the web nearly unusable w/o a lot of tactics and tools. Without those, I’ll often go to a site and wonder if they even want humans to be using their site…
I get real mad at the power company, they have MORE business than any other business in town but they (now) don’t have ONE person to take their money in person. I HAVE to go on-line to pay MY bill.
THEN, because I use my debit card, they want to CHARGE me extra to PAY THEM! ON-LINE! There’s nobody there it’s just a computer program running.
As soon as solar panel prices come down…I’m gonna block them too.
