Mette Frederiksen and Jens-Frederik Nielsen demand respect for borders after US appoints Greenland envoy

The prime ministers of Denmark and Greenland have demanded respect for their borders after Donald Trump appointed a special envoy to the largely self-governing Danish territory, which he has repeatedly said should be under US control.

“We have said it very clearly before. Now we say it again: you cannot annex other countries,” Mette Frederiksen and Jens-Frederik Nielsen said in a joint statement on Monday, adding that “fundamental principles” were at stake.

“Greenland belongs to the Greenlanders, and the US should not take over Greenland,” the two leaders said. “We expect respect for our common territorial integrity.”

It wont matter that he’s dead or not, all the rich fucks that put him there will still exist and will continue to reap the rewards from their bribes/donations.

Trump is a rapist and a conman. He believes he has the right to take whatever he can from anyone he thinks is weaker than him. Bullies like him need to be stood up to. Glad to hear Greenland and Denmark are standing strong.

You know, if America invaded and annexes Greenland, that would be an article 5 worthy event, meaning war with Canada and all of NATO, which would also mean Putin (Trump’s friend) could take Eastern Europe and maybe more.

Basically it will aid Putin and eliminate a group of countries America sees as competitors. Trump wants that.

      Ok, but it really isn’t.

At least, it’s a distraction the same way and hitting yourself in the knee with a hammer distracts from your headache. It may be a distraction, but it’s still just as serious of a problem.

Well they’ve decided themselves that they want to be a mostly independent colony, and work towards being able to take care of themselves. Greenland knows that they can’t take care of themselves as an independent nation right now, but Denmark and Greenland are trying to change that. The danish government has said multiple times that Greenland can become independent if they want to, they just know it’d be a bad idea right now.

They really aren’t trying to change it. Greenland has zero practical path to independence from Denmark. They are still firmly a colony, one that Denmark fights very hard to keep under their thumb.

“She can leave anytime she wants but she knows what will happen if she does”

Real abusive husband vibes there. Obviously the US should not attempt to take over any part of Greenland but the argument you’re making sounds more like a hostage situation than anything else.

This is more like a teen who is working towards independence. You may just be a troll, but I will elaborate a tiny bit. Surely you understand a country needs infrastructure, trade relationships and something to trade, and enough population, structure and industry to support these endeavors. Greenland is still developing these necessities. Like a parent Denmark is supporting and protecting teen Greenland while this process continues.

But in this situation, it would an abusive neighbor (the US) who has threatened to kidnap you if you leave. And police don’t exist, so it would be up to your husband or anyone else to physically come get you back.
