A year after the state blocked transgender Texans from updating their state IDs, it has collected information on more than 100 people who have tried. Officials won’t say what they’re using the list for.
The state of Texas has continued collecting information on transgender drivers seeking to change the sex listed on their licenses, creating a list of more than 100 people in one year.
According to internal documents The Texas Newsroom obtained through records requests, the Texas Department of Public Safety has amassed a list of 110 people who tried to update their gender between August 2024 and August 2025. Employees with driver’s license offices across the state, from El Paso to Paris to Plano, reported the names and license numbers of these people to a special agency email account. Identifying information was redacted from the records released to The Texas Newsroom.
The data was collected after Texas stopped allowing drivers to update the gender on their licenses unless it was to fix a clerical error. It is unclear what the state is doing with this information.
Fir what purpose do we need a list?
Imagine up some very evil reasons and you’ll probably be on the right track.
Sure this has no negative potential /s
GET OUT OF TEXAS!!!
Don’t wait until they come looking for you.
Yeah, it started with lists last time too. The US is preparing to add a new section to the « crimes against humanity » chapter in the history books.
I hate Texas so much. Florida, Texas and a handful of other US states are cesspools of bigotry.
I think people tend to forget that at the Alamo they were fighting to protect slavery… Texas has always been a refuge of those who seek to oppress.
Are we extrapolating that they plan to hunt down and kill them? Seems like if they sent in a formal request, keeping a list or receipt of request isn’t sinister. Its much more likely this list is arbitrary bureaucratic bullshit record keeping. The small amount of people on the list are only people who sent in their information with id change requests. I’d say its more likely that they are keeping this list in order to make requested changes WHEN the law changes back to the way it was. Either of my options are so much more realistic than the government creating a kill list.
I’m reminded here a bit of the people that were saying there was no danger of overturning Roe v. Wade, and it’s NBD, etc., even as many states had trigger laws, etc.
They don’t start out as kill lists. They start out as persecution lists. Then to incarceration lists “for their own good”. Then the real mistreatment begins with assault, rape, starvation. The final solution is a kill list.
We’ve seen this exact progression of events with immigrants. It started with illegals, then legal ones. At first they were deported to their home country, then to any country that would take them.
This is not unprecedented. This is how it happens throughout history. A fascist government making lists of citizens is the first step.
But its not like they went out looking for trans people. They kept the names of the 110 people who sent change requests. Those are the only people on the list and based on current info, that list isnt growing. Again its just as likely, if not more so, that bureaucratic bullshit SOP’s require them to keep lists like that. Id be willing to bet they have a list of every person who requested an ID update.
As a trans Texan, I can tell you from firsthand knowledge that many of our highest ranking state politicians are extremely hostile to people in the LGBTQ+ community and actively want us gone one way or another. Wanting to believe the best in someone is fine in general, but know who you are advocating for. These people have a history which paints a very dystopian picture of their intentions and we don’t currently have a federal government willing to stop them. Do I think they are making literal “kill lists”? No, I don’t think we’re quite there yet, but this is a strongly indicative prelude to that extreme. If they are making a list of a group of minorities, it’s almost guaranteed it will be used for discriminatory (or flat out criminal) purposes.
I recognize that, but, thats not what this is. They are recording the names of people who made the change request on their ID. There are more than 100k trans people in Texas. There are 110 names on the list… Obviously I’m the dissenting opinion here, I’m okay with that. However, a list recording change requests is being treated as an imminent attack on all trans people of texas.
Try watching the chief creative officer of tpusa Benny Johnson at tpusa’s recent conference and tell me that our fears are unfounded. Start at the 2min mark. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1FeqYqICcE&pp=ygUYYmVubnkgam9obnNvbiBraWNrIGRvb3Jz
Ugh, Benny Johnson. I find that smug asshole even more annoying than Kirk ever was. JFC, this asshole even tried to latch onto The Acolyte stuff to try to boost his viewership/red-pilling.
We know what happens when fascist make lists.
If you don’t maybe go learn about it instead of advocating for the devil.
I feel like people that speak the way you do WANT there to be kill lists.
