    Seems like the author conflates analog/digital with physical/virtual. Espeically the statement that a record to gen z buyers is a tangible token of fandom and identity.

    It might be intentional, but favoring physical items over virtual ones isn’t new. People have always wanted tangible possessions because they can be touched, seen, shown to friends, and they can’t expire or be confiscated via license, and so on. But the word analog has real meaning, and there are music and film subcultures that favor analog for aesthetic (and fashion) reasons.
