And the misleading article continues to circulate. Bose are not open sourcing any software. They are simply publishing the API for the device so that others might build software.

Did they start losing that many customers due to bad PR?no they just posted some documentation about their API. it’s not FOSS.

And then gave some docs and paid some news outlets to blow it up for FOSS-washing.Agreed it is not FOSS though it is a step towards a better direction.
Honestly, I think this should be the legal minimum requirement for anyone phasing out cloud dependent hardware or even in case of bankruptcy.
It’s good that we have this example, which can then be used to prove capabilities in legislative hearings.
