Immigration enforcement is sowing chaos in Minneapolis and across the country. Democrats, elections officials and civil rights groups fear it could interfere with this November’s elections — and are scrambling for a response. They’re warning that the White House’s deployments of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol agents could act as a voter suppression tool should armed officers conduct raids at or near polling locations, scaring citizens into staying home.

Gosh I wonder why they’re against mail-in ballots.

Any voter in CA is eligible, and honestly, with the number of propositions and local stuff on the ballot it’s essential to do research ahead of time regardless of your political preferences. So much easier to fill it out over a few weeks IMHO.

Beware though, there may be new rules about needing it received rather than postmarked by the election date (which is obviously bullshit).

They hate mail in ballots but Florida has been Republican nearly 30 years and uses mail in ballots. Their excuses are just bullshit.

Especially with who’s still in charge of the USPS, and them purposefully delaying mail right now to set the precedent for November.

It’s because the Liberal party under capitalist democracy represents the interest of capital. The same happened in the Weimar Republic. The liberal party voted for the “enabling act” to give Hitler absolute powers. They voted for it under just the “promise” that their party would not be abolished. It was quickly abolished after.

This is the role of the “left” party under capitalist run democracy. They are nothing more than a planned opposition party. When fascism rises, they have no role to play but to maintain the illusion of a democratic system.

The Democratic party isn’t stupid. It’s just not serving the interest that most people expect it to. It never has.

But when they win, it’ll be their police force! And if they don’t support it, the Swing MAGA Voter can’t be persuaded to support them when they campaign on “Release The Epstein Files” in October.

You just don’t understand what it takes to win elections, unlike a liberal party that runs Perfect Campaigns. If they don’t win in 2026, it’ll be your fault.

But logically, if they don’t win, it is your fault.

How else are they supposed to win, by trying to steal votes? Suppress them like Donald Cunt is actively doing?

Don’t fret, though. The dems are adept at bending to Republic卐n will by now, the spineless fucks.

How else are they supposed to win, by trying to steal votes?

California’s giving this a shot with their gerrymandering initiative. Probably the smartest thing a blue state legislature has tried in decades.

Don’t fret, though. The dems are adept at bending to Republic卐n will by now

It’s not even “bending to the Republicans” so much as “getting money from the same six trillionaires and their lobbyists”.

Like, you want to pretend this is a Red State / Blue State problem, but the bluest blotches in the country are home to some of the most prolific reactionary mega-donors. NYC, Chicago, LA, Seattle, Houston… They’re all pock marked with board rooms full of ice-chewing fascist psychos.

I think their post is more a critique about how the DNC fails to capture the interest of their electorate by supporting more moderate policies and refusing to actually dismantle the systems that create the oppression and exploitation in an attempt to woo a mythical moderate Republican that just doesn’t exist.

DNC didn’t even investigate the 2024 fraud because the optics would have been bad after 2020. Just the threat of escalation is already doing extra voter intimidation, people will refuse to register to vote before even getting to the polls because they’re scared.

And it’s not like most of the left can keep from purity testing for their special interest tribe long enough to agree on anything.

Not like they need to wait until you’re in line at the polls to find yourself on a 3 day hold (maximum legal detainment without filing charges)

I might be sliding into nihilism. Nothing we post here matters.

Hey, I’ve been arguing this shit online for well over a decade. The one bright side about all the manipulation and social media bots is that it validated all that effort. Apparently what we post online does matter. And they didn’t like that.

Guess what, you personally can take action. One option is [ Removed by Reddit ] but that’s not something I could recommend. Join mutual aid groups, learn farming, build your own local community, stock up on supplies, firearms, ammo, etc., and join the many many community groups that push their local politicians towards actual action.

The one thing I admire about MAGA is how unhinged they are and how willing they are to push their politicians with serious threats of action and really making their voice known. Liberals are pussies in that sense, and/or straight up complicit with the ruling class, and that’s why America is where it is. The actual citizens of America are slowly learning how to actually push, but they haven’t had to in their lifetime. Other countries put Americans to shame in pushing political change.

Look at what the Romain people did to protest Ceausescu’s dictatorship. Really neat to learn about the history of People’s movements.

Don’t listen to me, I’m just a useful idiot getting influenced by propaganda.

All great advice I’ve heard before, mutual aid would be great but despite my efforts my safety net has shrunk to a tightrope while I overextended my own resources to be a safety net for others (haha, one hilarious story was my mom spending the emergency fund i had her holding for me, my sister had such a hilarious emergency needing a vacation 😂); farming knowledge is only useful with the resources to use them (currently possible, but won’t result in a net positive of resources); community is amazing, lost the majority of my last friend group when a hinge friend’s husband wanted to sleep with me; my pantry is growing, my mental health doesn’t allow firearms, my local communities aren’t friendly to my people and my people’s communities aren’t local.

I am working to improve my own material conditions as well as still trying to find a community that we lift each other up, instead of someone getting torn down.

But also no, I’m so tired of people. I’m so tired of how quick to violence so many people are, how ignorant so many choose to be. How much grace isn’t returned, how much gratitude doesn’t persist.

I’ve had really good experiences with Food Not Bombs. There are significant chapters everywhere, unless you live in the backwoods.

No firearms then, but you can learn how to operate HF radio for off-grid comms, and a million other ways to contribute. Check of Black Flag Civilian as a good entry point.

Even if not local, join support groups for causes you care about. Things I care about are vote reform and climate, so RankTheVote and Citizens’ Climate Lobby. Just start getting involved ffs, stop feeling sorry for yourself. Some people need a kick to get moving.

If we want to defend our polling places, it will be because we organize ourselves with groups like the Black Panthers. Democrats work for the rich, they are never going to recruit actual leftist orgs because of the threat they pose to capitalism and the rich
