TNG s3e17 “Sins of the Father”
The klingons picked Picard for everything because they knew he was funny.
One of the few humans they’d share a barrel of blood wine with. He even knows all the good curse words.
“You may test that assumption at your convenience.” - Guy who was stabbed in the heart and almost died
Earned the right to say it.
He won’t make the same mistake twice!
Haha. But he did already make that same mistake twice. And
the second time,he laughed about it.I think he laughed the first time, too. Pretty sure he said it in the episode with the Pakleds while cruising in the shuttle with Wesley.
Oh right! Yes!
And yes I’m a little disturbed I remembered that detail from an annoying episode.
Though the Pakleds went on to become great characters in Lower Decks, so at least we got that out of it.
Has there ever been a more elegant “fuck around and find out”?
“Only one human captain has ever survived battle with a Minbari Fleet. He is behind me. You are in front of me. If you value your lives, be somewhere else.”
Not quite as elegant, but still pretty good!
Something to note here. The Klingons are all huffed up and making a big deal about fighting.
The Federation doesn’t make a big deal about fighting because they don’t really care about it.
The Federation cares about winning.
We’re talking about the dude who has an artificial heart because a Nausican stabbed a knife through after Picard picked a fight with one.
Picard merely prefers the cerebral approach.
Ready to rumble but happier simply being better than you. Average Frenchman!
You gotta get that dirt of your shoulder

More proof that he and Q had a truly bromantic relationship. The only person he wouldn’t punch no matter how much they annoyed him.

The way he handled Armus was pure ice.
So here you are. Feeding on your own loneliness. Consumed by your own pain. Believing your own lies.

Then he leaves him there, destroys the shuttle so he can’t leave, and then made the planet off limits so people don’t go there ever again.
