Because of the huge ongoing problem with babies who are being born here already radicalized members of foreign terrorist organizations. Right?
Oh, right. The other two. “Alien enemies of the United States” and “people who lobby and act on behalf of foreign governments.”
Anyone of any age with a parent from any country Trump decides to say is an “alien enemy”, and anyone who he decides is working on behalf of another government. Of course they don’t mean Israel. Half the US government works for Israel.
They mean more like if you were born in the US and have always been a US citizen, but one of your parents (grandparents?) came from Mexico… and ICE beats a man who immigrated from Mexico or was born in the US but had a parent who was born in Mexico to death in the street… and you say “That’s bad!”… then they can say you’re working on behalf of the Mexican government by protesting the apprehension of Mexican immigrants.
And revoke your US citizenship. And deport you. Form the nation in which you were born and have always lived.
It’s an insane power grab and completely at odds with the US Constitution. It goes against everything this country is supposed to stand for.
Executive orders are not laws. And the Supreme Court ruling didn’t limit birthright citizenship in any of the ways the executive order is attempting to do.
So, it’s all just more performative bullshit, done in a fit of pique because he didn’t get his way in court.
Who is it you’re expecting to make him stop because executive orders aren’t laws? o_O
He’s shown he’s more than willing to ignore the Judicial branch if he doesn’t like what they have to say. And neither they nor the legislative have anything like the new private army he’s built himself, which is around the 20th best funded in the entire world. Though they shouldn’t follow blatantly illegal orders, he also has the actual military on top of that.
If the Dems win back the house and senate I expect him to start going crazy. Trying to send his own personal military to remove people, possibly politicians he doesn’t like, to term them no longer citizens and try to deport them. If an armed resistance stands up to them that would be when he’d try to use the insurrection act and sent in the actual military.
It doesn’t matter what laws are on paper. The army he’s built himself is completely loyal to him alone. He also controls the military. He doesn’t have to give the military illegal orders if he can use his own army to get something done. If people start opening fire on his personal federal agent army then… well, even though he’d have started the issue and be completely ignoring the other two branches of government and using his goon squad to do things that would be illegal orders for members of the armed forces… once people are firing on federal agents, then it becomes much harder for the military to refuse orders to do something about it.
This system wasn’t designed with the thought that the Executive branch might decide to completely ignore the other two and just take over. The Military Oath is against all enemies of the constitution foreign and domestic, which is intended in part to keep the President from doing that… but since then the Executive has grown massively, and his recent explosion of ICE funding and hiring has made it so that no other force in the country can actually stand against it. Police on the local and state levels have been mostly siding with it.

So far, it’s been the federal courts. Dozens of unlawful EOs have been shut down and he has complied (sometimes after appealing and losing).
I’d love to see Stephen Miller in prison.
Donvict too, but I doubt he’s long for this Earth anyway. Miller is much, much younger and seeing him spend many years in prison for what he’s done would be a delight to millions.
