- Took the kids for bike ride
- Phoned my dad
- Phoned my sister
- Played a round of DCSS (ReIE)
- Watched some football w snacks
Yes, great day.
I’ve recently gotten into the world of top down roguelikes. I got introduced to tales of maj’eyal about a month ago and I’ve been having a blast failing headfirst into that game.
Thanks for introducing me to DCSS just now! Can’t wait to try it out.
How long have you been playing this and what’s your take on it.
I’ve been playing DCSS for a few years and the furthest I’ve ever gone was collecting one rune (Snake Pits).
I like that it’s permadeath, the dungeons are procedurally generated, and that releases with new mechanics come out regularly so it doesn’t get stale. Over my short tenure, I’ve seen a few races, classes, equipment types, and mechanics (food was a mechanic awhile ago) come and go. With that said there are many backgrounds, classes, equipment, and dieties so actual play can have quite a lot of variability.
I usually play on crawl.dcss.io via ssh, you can find my player characters in the morgue by looking for player “kaleh”
Go get killed in D:3 by a pack of gnolls, I highly recommend :)
It was my last official day at the animal rescue for the year. There is still other stuff I can do, but this was my last day with my regular team. So that was a little sad, but I went with 2 of my friends there to hot pot for lunch afterwards. So I really enjoyed that.
I had a great time feeding the baby mice today, which I do not usually enjoy, but they were so sweet today! It was nice to end the term on a surprise high note.
I did get bit by another squirrel, but not near as bad as last week, so that’s neutral, just part of the game, and it’s rainy and bleh from this noreaster storm, but otherwise a great day and all went as planned!
Did a couple chores and laid low bc I have work tomorrow and am sick with some mystery bug.
Would rather have baked something but I did that a couple times last week at least so it’s not too painful a loss lol
Hope you get well soon
Thank you I appreciate it /gen /pos :)
I worked a full shift, which is not what I wanted to do.
But I did make an awesome lunch which is what I wanted to do.
But it got cut short when I had to deal with a work emergency, which is not what I wanted to do.
But I also got to text with my crush all day which is what I wanted to do.
You texted your crush all day? Why don’t you just wait to see them in person?
I did exactly what I wanted to be doing all day. Woke up with to some slow cooker stew that cooked through the night, played some video games and watched some shows, relaxed and read some book, even went and celebrated an in laws birthday. Now I’m in bed cuddling the dog, waiting for the wife to get her cute ass in here for epic cuddle time before we start the week again. We work opposite shifts during the weeks, so the cuddles are extra important to make up for never seeing each other lol
Hope you had a great day too 😁
We walked the dog down to a local Korean place and got bibimbap and banana lattes. My partner got one of those grabby claws and we picked up trash along the way — I think we filled 7-8 plastic grocery bags. I’d rather just hang out and play Palworld, but I’ll enjoy the cleaner streets when we get out to walk the dogs, and I know I should enjoy the sun before the dark returns, so I’m glad we did it.
I used to have a golden I could walk off leash and would have a grabby and bucket and do that. Every so often someone would give me a hard time about the off leash so I would put her on and hold the bucket and grabby in one hand and stop picking up trash.
I made rice. Like stand and wash it forever rice. Normally I cook the fastest thing, but today I made rice.
It sounds stupid, I know.
reminds me of this.

Not stupid at all, rice is delicious! I’m gonna be making some within the hour.
Rinse a cup of rice in a strainer under the tap, bang it in a pressure cooker with a cup of water for ten minutes, congrats you just saved half an hour
I spent a large portion of the day debugging open source software and yes, I enjoyed doing that. It would of course have been more convenient if someone else had already done it, but it does give me a nice sense of accomplishment to contribute to the community.
I delivered Amazon packages because I work for the United States Postal Service.
It wasn’t what I wanted to do today.
I wanted to cry today. I want to cry every day. I hate my life.
Why is your life so bad?
I’m the son of a junkie, worked hard for a career for ten years then Trump/Musk ended it, I haven’t had a woman romantically involved with me in over 22 years, my mortgage eats over half of the money I make in a month, drinking isn’t fun anymore, I’m broke, and I just started delivering mail at 40 years old. It has been raining on me all day for the last two days at work. I’m old and done with everything.
You and me both, on many points. Sometimes I don’t even know why I/we keep struggling. Nonetheless, you’re not alone in this. 🙏
Damn that’s rough, what did you do before Trump/Musk?
I’m sure if you scrub up you’ll be able to land yourself some dates, over here the dating scene for 40 year olds is better than ever
Web Developer and Designer. I was a government contractor making apps and websites.
Drinking, and drinking
Went for my morning one-hour walk.
Made lunch.
Uh… yeah.
There are plenty of things I’d rather be doing. Can’t afford any of them.
I’m rewriting my soundboard in Rust! /j (It was already written in Rust)
I was restructuring my soundboard to decouple the frontend and backend so it can be run as a daemon easier. Also removing the usage of global variables and avoiding using like 5 locks at once.
Haven’t pushed any of the modifications yet, but if you’re interested in the soundboard, here it is
Definitely a mixed bag.
Today I submitted a project for a game jam. It’s the first one I’ve finished in a little over two years. Shameless self promotion
On the one hand, yes it’s absolutely what I wanted to do. Video games have always been a special interest, and I’d really like to be selling my own games. Plus a jam is a good learning experience and trust me: I’ll find all the ways you shouldn’t do something.
On the other hand, it’s a whole lot of crunch time racing against the clock. Sleepy, migraine, and basically wrung out. Plus the nature of a jam is that you’re inevitably shipping a buggy mess that only sorta works - it’s basically the antithesis to my work ethic.
But, it’s been a long time, I’m happy with what I made, and the stresses of the game have been a very effective escape from the stresses of real life. So overall: yeah, it’s what I wanted to be doing
Today I submitted a project for a game jam. It’s the first one I’ve finished in a little over two years. Shameless self promotion Right on!
Finished up installing our new Mailbox/post/house numbers and did some yard work.
My yesterday:
Wanted to do:
- Clean up cardboard boxes
- Clean up table/take out trash
- Prep camping bag for next trip
- Meal prep
Ended up doing:
- Prep camping bag for next trip
- Realized all my gear now takes significant space, so re-organized my storage space and stowed away all my gear
- Meal prep
Not a total loss, the gear having a place is a win, but I now face start of the work week with tons of cardboard preventing me from working out and a still messy table and glass bottles everywhere. I’m really bad when it comes to keeping my place clean…
