If people answer the questions on policies and quality of life they want, the left-side platforms match with more things than not. Like healthcare, work/life balance and compensation. Improving both of those tends to improve productivity and innovation, people are more free, untied from bad jobs for insurance that you can still go bankrupt on. We want freedom and it’s available with enough time and majority to do it. Can’t swing back and forth and expect progress, that’s just a wrecking ball that destroys progress and then have to start over again. Support real progressives that want these for everyone.

That’s good, I guess. But I do wish the Democrats had more to recommend them other than not being Republicans.

Vote blue, anyway. Not voting, when the GOP has clearly shown cheating already, would be essentially voting Republican. First priority is getting them out of ability to do further major damage.

Don’t forget how useless polls are: Hillary was going to win it was 98% certain, Kamala was going to win Iowa by as much as 14 points. Neither of these things happened.

Polls were always shitty because of small sample size but nowadays they’re probably being gamed by bad actors as well. And we’ve known that some people lie to save face: there was some legislation in California (think it was anti-immigration or something) and when they surveyed voters these people over-whelming said they were voting against it. Come election day the measure passes.

What happened? Well turns out the populace actually liked the law but they also didn’t want people to know they supported something that could be viewed as bigoted. So when some stranger called then and asked what they thought about it they lied to save face, while deep down they knew they were going to vote for it because it served their self interest.

I think in a normal election. Republicans get their asses handed to them.

But the Republicans are in charge across a multitude of states and at the federal level. They are plotting to steal it and I’m assuming they most likely have already. Until I see differently I’m won’t be able to celebrate

No such thing as a normal election. No such thing as a reliable poll. Go vote.

Let’s not have a repeat of “how to vote after election day” trend on Google search this year like back in 2024.

Everyone should be spreading absolute terror among their communities because thats the only reason Biden won in 2020, there was an absolutely terrifying event taking place. People pay bills because they fear the consequences of not paying them, no one loves to pay their bills even if they understand they are necessary. Therefor, fear is the more powerful motivator.

Not sure about the spreading terror part, since hope for a better future is a more sustainable motivator than fear, even in good times, and people are completely feared out these days. But agreed that people need to understand there’s no room for slacking off and staying home, no matter how many headlines try to convince us of precisely that.

people are completely feared out these days.

And thats what seems to be motivating voters to turn out this cycle.

Theres a reason we deter people from smoking cigarettes using the fear of cancer and not the hope that you’ll live a longer life if you don’t smoke a pack a day. Incidentally, you can have both fear and hope. In the cigarette example we use fear of cancer to convince someone that by not smoking a pack a day we hope it prevents them from ever developing lung cancer or other lung aliments and they’ll live longer.

My original point is this: in 2016 we were told Hillary was going to win with a 98% certainty so lots of people didn’t go vote or voted for a 3rd party (there was lots of animosity towards the DNC that year but funny thing is after Trump lost a bunch of those people really regretted their decision that was motivated by apathy or spite.)

In 2024 we were again told with a high certainty that Kamala would win. We even had famous pollsters claiming she’d win Iowa by a landslide. Again, lots of people didn’t turn out to vote. The day after Trump won we saw the google search term “how do I vote after election day” skyrocket. Obviously some people had regrets about their decision to not vote.

I’m not convinced the “they go low, we go high” is really a sound strategy. Sure, it’s a lovely soundbite but we’re literally at war with faction trying to overthrow our government. You want hope? Let’s address the fear by talking about incessantly (right not) since we’re approaching a brief time period where we can actually do something constructive about it (voting.)

All these “blue wave forecast” articles are just fueling the apathy. We should be talking about how close every race is (most races are usually within 5-10% which most people would consider close.) You need to ensure people who can vote do vote and history proves that fear of consequences motivates better than hope of consequences, thought as I pointed out the two can be interlinked. I’d much rather be seeing articles about how Senator GOP is planning to kill your grandma if reelected or how Congressman GOP is going to draft your kids for a war with Israel. That’ll get people to turn out, but the DNC is kind of inept at messaging as a whole.

What last time? He lost in 2020 when he was in charge and tried everything he could to rig it and failed.

In 2024 he won the popular vote, that wasn’t a rig, it was investigated heavily and the people voted for him.

All I see is when he’s in control he fails and when he’s not in control everyone forgets and aw shucks him into power.

We’re in the he’s in control situation which history shows he typically loses in this case.

He’s so good at shooting himself in the foot.

2024 was not investigated heavily. It was barely investigated at all. Even that little bit found tons of instances where ballots voted down ticket Democrat, except when it came to the presidential election. Combine that with Musk all but admitting that he had a hand in it and you’d be a fool to think it was squeaky clean.

I’m sure there was some fraud on all sides as there is every election. If there was enough probable fraud though Harris would have fought it.

I’ve heard this claim before but without actual proof it’s just conspiracy theory that makes it easier to accept that the American people actually voted for this. I’m pretty sure they did, and now they need to vote against it.

Harris didn’t fight it not because there was no fraud (Musk straight up admitted there was), but because Democrats believe they can win over Republicans by accumulating “Good Boy” points by being concerned with decorum above all.

You won’t like this: balkanize the US and make a non-centralized Union of the remaining states. Just so politics are different in all states. Diversity breeds progressivity

They tried that. The nation was originally a confederacy. It failed. After adopting a federal government things worked better, even when a Civil War challenged that Union. You may nit like it but this is the best system found so far. We’re allowed to change the things we don’t like but it’s not easy to do precisely because such changes need to be difficult. Rally your communities. The largest voting block is “didn’t vote” and you may not like this but it’s mostly younger people and a big chunk of minorities that don’t actually vote.

Stop complaining if you aren’t willing to work towards fixing things.

No worries. I don’t expect everyone to know American history. But the founding fathers did originally merge the 13 colonies together as a confederacy. The biggest problem with that was it was difficult to raise taxes to pay for the Revolutionary War. Part of the reason France lost money and eventually had its own revolution.

I’d also hazard anyone from copying the Balkans. Aren’t most of those countries pretty shitty to live in?

STOP PRETENDING THE OUTCOME IS NOT COMPLETELY PREDICTABLE

If he wins legitimately, you’re fucked.

If he wins by cheating, you’re fucked.

If he doesn’t win, it was rigged, stall everything in the courts, until such time that they can take the mask off completely and by then it’s too late. You’re fucked.

Even if the Democrats win, no one will be held accountable. They’re certainly not going to throw their friends in jail. Politics in the US is a lot like professional wrestling, all theatrics, they’re not actually enemies in real life, and they all make lots of money when everything is smooth sailing. So many Democrats are involved in insider trading, meeting up with their friends at the secret Island, all sorts of stuff. One side wears red, the other wears blue. At the end of the day, they’re there to protect Capital.
