Have to admit, before I wanted a partner, I needed to build a proper “nest” to impress any potential mates. Got a home theater setup. All the right accoutrements and candles. Nice dishes, furniture, the works. I had designs to slay so much after I was done with the place. The only person I ever brought home ended up marrying me.
Before that? Mattress on the floor. One desk and chair for the computer. Didn’t even have a TV.
This is the advice men need to hear. Cleanliness and a hand towel go a long way, too. Also no one wants to fuck in a smelly apartment, clean your damn cat box.
I mean I dunno but I’ve had a trashcan in every room rule since I left home so maybe I am the problem. The bathroom ones got a removable sleeve so I can empty it into the big trash can to make it slightly easier to clean but that’s more a recent thing it’s not rocket science.
I did not take it as a comment on me! Or him, as he had the trashcan. And other qualities! It was mostly silly on my part, but it did inform me he thought about guests.
Damn, maybe you found your alternative career if the current one fails!
Maybe it is genetic. My uncle did interior design for a living. To be honest, it was both difficult and easy at the same time because I knew what kinda colors I liked but needed to pick a scheme that said “responsible adult you want to fuck”. What’s hilarious is that my partner and I am not home decorator people. Current home is definitely not something you’d see in a magazine. It was easy to spruce up a little studio apartment, more effort when the space is a lot bigger lol
I always liked hosting people. So even when I had trouble getting dates (most of my 20’s), I still kept my place in a condition that was good for having people over, and regularly had friends and family over. Plus I always had roommates so my home would always be a place where at least some social interaction would occur.
So it’s kinda wild to me to hear about people not having their apartments in a condition where people they liked and trusted could see and give feedback.

A trashcan in the bathroom let me know my husband was the one.
That’s kinda bleak
How do people both simultaneously shame men for understanding and not understanding women’s needs?
I think this more of a bar in hell thing. Who wouldn’t have a trashcan in the bathroom? A demon.

Sorry I meant it as a comment on the state of men not the person I replied to

What was in it?
19 years later, I don’t fuckin remember. He probably had emptied it and put in a clean bag before I came over, statistically!
It can be very practical to live like that when you’re on your own! I get it haha.
