The legislation would allow the Secretary of State to strip anyone’s US passport with no legal due process.

If you want to see a populace uprise and hang you from street poles. Go ahead and remove their rights because that’s how you get a populace uprising.

Does that mean it’s a shortcut to expatriation, without having to pay the exit tax?

The more this government pushes to abandon freedoms, suppress rights, flout laws, abuse citizens, gaslight and lie, undermine the vote, and shove folks further and further toward an economic ledge, the more they encourage violence toward those in power. If the government is abandoning the rule of law, the citizens must abandon it as well. That is the only way fascism has ever been put down in the past.

I can’t wait to read the legal gymnastics the SCOTUS is going to barf out to OK this!

“You see the 1st amendment only protects the party in power…”

“If that speech makes the leader of the country sad, then it cannot be protected by the Constitution he’s sworn to uphold!”

“Because of this precedent we’re choosing to interpret completely opposite to its history being taught in law schools, the 1st amendment only protects registered Republicans. But, and this is important, this isn’t setting precedent. This is a one-off. You know, legal no backsies!”

In reality, they’ll probably just refuse to take it up if the most recent federal appeal comes down the “right” way. Because they’re cowards. Like most of the government.
